Karl R. Klein

LeRoy ~ Karl R. Klein, age 73, of Parmelee Road, passed away early Sunday morning (July 2, 2023) at home in the loving presence of his family.

     He was born January 15, 1950 in Rochester, NY, a son of the late Roger and Helen Dunkle Klein.

  Karl was a 1968 graduate of East High School in Rochester. He then served his country honorably with the U.S. Army.  He started his career with Case Hoyt, where he worked as a printer for 12 years. 

     Karl was a visionary.  Karl and his brother, Paul moved to LeRoy.  That is when he purchased “One Main Street” in LeRoy and transformed it into The Ganson Inn.  He then moved to a farmhouse in Stafford on Route 5, where he provided a “take out service”.  That is also when he started his business, Ganson Rose Equipment, providing quality restaurant equipment, which he operated until his passing.  Karl was a great chef.

     In November 2014, he married the love of his life, Debbie, which he called her his angel.     

     Karl will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, who always looked out for everyone else.  He was known for his sincere question of “do you need anything?”, which he would offer up to family and friends. During relaxing time, Karl enjoyed his many trips to the Batavia Downs Casino.

     He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Debbie Kerr Klein; daughter, Rachael (Rob) Kuszlyk of Batavia; sons, Tim (Steve) Adams of Stafford and Scott (Kelly) Adams of Caledonia; siblings, Roger (Fran) Klein of Lebanon, TN, Vern (Gloria) Klein of Johnson City, TN, Ruth Klein of Farmington, Rose (Larry) White of North Rose and Paul Klein of LeRoy; he cherished his grandchildren, Colton, Crew, Hadley, James, Quinn, Kris, Kameron, and Kaden; along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  He will also be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Remi.

     In addition to his parents, Karl was predeceased by his sister, Rita Moose and brother, Steve Klein.

     Family and friends are invited to share in Karl’s Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 11 AM ~ 3 PM, with his eulogy at 12 PM, at The Original Red Osier Landmark Restaurant, 6492 Main Road (Rt. 5), Stafford, N.Y.

Grace Marie (Fox) Leanen

Stafford ~ Grace Marie (Fox) Leanen, age 91, of Route 237, passed away Saturday morning (July 1, 2023) at home in the loving presence of her family.

     She was born October 18, 1931 in Fonda, N.Y., a daughter of the late Roland and Frieda VonHahmann Fox.

     Grace was a 1948 graduate of Fonda High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Buffalo where she majored in Home Economics.  She taught Home Economics for one year in Corfu and 28 years in LeRoy.

     She was a member of the Morganville United Church of Christ, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid, a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher’s Sorority, a volunteer for Catholic Charities, member of the Town of Stafford Historical Society, the Red Hatters, served as the Morganville Cemetery secretary for many years and helped with the Town of Stafford voting.

     She will be sadly missed by her son, Wayne C. Leanen; daughter, Linda (Harry) Garner; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Gannon, Karl Leanen, Matt (Sumer) Garner and Aaron (Colleen) Garner; great-grandchildren, Lexi Hobart, Luke, Dakota and Kayla Gannon, Sadie, Chloe, Palynn and Haylee Garner; sister-in-law, Beverly Fox, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Leanen; brothers, Roland Fox Jr. and Kenneth J. Fox; sister-in-law, Roberta Fox; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Ruth Leanen, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and  Mary Waterman and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Amy Leanen.

     At Grace’s request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to Grace’s Celebration of Life Service to be held on Sunday, July 16 at 2:00 PM at the Morganville United Church of Christ, 8466 Morganville Road, Stafford, NY.

Carol C. Esch

Carol C. Esch, 88 of Corfu, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 3, 2023, with her family by her side.
She was the wife of the late August J. Esch and sister of the late Lenore Zimmerman.
 
Carol is survived by her brother, Joel Cristall; her daughters, Aimee (David) Cummings and Bonnie Esch (Kevin); her son Joseph Esch; her grandchildren, Andrew (Cara) Rindell, Brandon (Racheal) Rindell, Brooke Cummings, Jody Hanel, Jamie Hanel and many cherished great grandchildren.

Raymond W. Schramm Sr.

Batavia - Raymond W. Schramm Sr., age 64, of Batavia passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York.

Raymond was born Saturday, February 7th, 1959, in Batavia, New York, a son of the late Ronald and Theodora (Andrews) Schramm. 

He enjoyed watching wrestling, NASCAR, college football, and especially the Tennessee Volunteers. Raymond loved spending time with his wife, gatherings with his family, and seeing his grandchildren. 

Raymond graduated from Oakfield-Alabama Central School in 1977. Later he met the love of his life, Edna Bigelow, and they were married on October 19, 1985, in Batavia, NY. Raymond loved trucking and worked most of his life as a truck driver for Leonard's Express Inc.

Surviving is his wife, Edna Schramm of Batavia; children David (Victoria) Salamone of Warsaw, Raymond (Jessica) Schramm Jr. of Oakfield, William (Rianne) Schramm of Gates, Andrew (Savannah) Schramm of Batavia, and Zachary Schramm of Batavia; grandchildren, Shawntavia, Kenon, Tyler, Brooke, Bryson, Katie, Sammy, Nick, Mason, Xzavier, and William Jr. ; great grandchildren, Ishawani, Ithena, Xavier; siblings, Peter (Elizabeth) Schramm of Ernul, NC, Scott (Lori) Schramm of Middleport and an uncle that was like a brother to him, Rick (Sonya) Andrews of Byron.

Preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald H, Schramm Sr., and Cindy Day.

Jacob "Jack" Peters

Jack was born in Erie, PA on November 13, 1930 and graduated from Academy H.S., Erie. From 1954-1962 he owned an Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Erie and managed a Fred Astaire Studio in Niagara Falls, NY. Jack was a floor covering distributor salesman for over 40 years, selling Amtico tile, Bruce hardwood and Armstrong carpet and hard surface products. Together with Art Goodreds he co-owned Niagara Wholesale Floor Covering in Buffalo NY for a number of years. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Kathryn (Gerlock) Peters, his sister and brother-in-law Dolores and George Gibb, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mary (Hanes) Peters, and his childhood friend of over 70 years, Donald Ross. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Margaret Ann Peters, his children: Mary Kay Peters, Kathryn (David) Fedison, John (Joanne) Peters, Jacqueline (Paul) Walters, and Jacob Peters, III., his granddaughters, Madeline and Samantha Peters, his nephew Robert (Kathy) Gibb and his nieces: Victoria (Bill) Peterson and Tamara (Joyce) Peters. There will no prior calling hours. Teresa (Fix) Lawrence

Teresa (Fix) Lawrence, 69, of Batavia, NY, passed away, peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023.  She was born September 2, 1953.  She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Joseph R. Lawrence, her parents, Edward E. and Ursula (Horgan) Fix, and her father-in-law Robert E. Lawrence. 

Teresa is survived by her loving children, Marie (Shawn) Bigsby, John (Carrie) Lawrence, Catherine Lawrence (Ronald Schramm), & Elizabeth (Nicholas) Grasso, and adoring grandchildren, Emma, Brock, & Ryan Bigsby, Sophia and Jack Lawrence, and Gia and Joseph Grasso. Teresa is also survived by her mother-in-law, Frances (Radley) Lawrence, her siblings, John (Corinne) Fix, James (Christine) Fix, and Marie (Randall) Smith, her in-laws William (Margaret) Lawrence, Nancy (Richard) Hale, Robert (Diane) Lawrence, JoAnn (Steven) Hyde, and several nieces and nephews.    

Teresa was a caring mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed watching her grandchildren and telling others about them.  Teresa spent many summers vacationing at Black Lake, Oneida Lake, and Horseshoe Lake with her family.  

Teresa worked as an LPN for the VA hospital in Batavia.  She loved taking care of all of her patients.  She also babysat for many families in her home while her children were growing up.  She cared for those children like they were her own. 

Teresa will be missed by family and friends alike.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive attitude.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 7th from 10:30AM -12:00PM at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church) 18 Ellicott St. Batavia, NY 14020.  A 12:00PM Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at the church.

Jammie L. Kadziolka

Jammie L. Kadziolka, 47 of Corfu, NY, passed away lovingly surrounded by her family on July 1, 2023.  

She was born in Buffalo on November 5, 1975,  a daughter of John and the late Rose Kadziolka.

Jammie loved the Buffalo Sabres, embracing Polish customs and traditions, especially with family at the holidays, and cuddling her cats, Gordy and Cordelia.  Music, however, was her passion.  Jammie was an avid fan of Bob Marley, the Grateful Dead, and Lowest of the Low, but she especially loved The Tragically Hip. 

Beloved daughter of John Kadziolka, of Corfu, NY.  Dearest sister of Kimberly Kadziolka of Buffalo, NY; Tracy Sutherland of Batavia, NY; and Russ (Kathleen) Kadziolka, of Burlington, CT.  Cool aunt of Nicole LaVarnway, Jack Sutherland and Margaret Sutherland, Kyle Kadziolka and Emma Kadziolka; and four great-nieces.  Jammie will be terribly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

She is predeceased by her mother, Rose Kadziolka, and grandparents, Helen and Chester Grabski, and John and Virginia Kadziolka. 

Friends may call on Friday July 7th, from 4-8pm at J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 John St., Akron, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, July 8th, 10:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 18 W. Main St., Corfu, NY.

Mrs. Florence Ann Panek Rodon

Oakfield – Florence Ann Panek Rodon, of Oakfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

Florence was born in Oakfield, a daughter of the late Albert Panek and Anna Polak Panek.

Florence earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from SUNY Cortland and her Master's Degree in Education from SUNY Brockport. She taught elementary grade school in Webster and Batavia, retiring from the Batavia City School District. A member of St. Padre Pio Parish - Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Richard. They visited Europe eight times and visited many continents.

Florence is the wife of Richard Rodon who passed away on September 13, 2017.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Anthony (Barbara) Rodon of Florida; her sister-in-law, Barbara (Joe) DeFazio of North Carolina along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is predeceased by her siblings,  Frank Panek, Albert Panek, John Panek, Mary Sumeriski,  Julia Gabriel, Josephine Panek, Anna Gloria Panek,Colonel Nellie Panek, Dorothy Allen and Dr. Susan Coffey.

There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Padre Pio Parish – Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site, 65 South Main Street, Elba. Jared Lee Diehl

Batavia - Jared Lee Diehl, age 34, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Jared was born on  July 14, 1988 in Batavia, a son of Michael Diehl and Jeanette Czaja Diehl of Elba.

Jared’s family was his life. Jared loved music and was the lead guitarist in the band GumShoe with his close friends Dan Eick and Todd Townsend. He also enjoyed any kind of sports.

Surviving with his parents are his wife, Katelin Zalar Diehl; his sons, Bryson Lee Diehl and Peyton A. Conner; his brother, James (Ashley) Diehl; his sister; Kelsey Diehl; maternal grandparents, Florian (Joan) Czaja. Jared is “voodoo” to Evelyn June Diehl and Michael James Diehl.  

He is reunited in heaven with his grandparents, James K. (Nona Elizabeth) Diehl.

Esther "Essie" B. Marone

Esther “Essie” B. Marone, (98), of Batavia, passed away on June 23, 2023, peacefully at home. She was born September 2, 1924, in Brooklyn, Iowa to Andrew Edward Burk and Eva Pearl Burk. Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Paul A. Marone, and her brothers, Marvin and Larry Burk.

A proud “girl from Iowa” with a lifelong dedication to learning, Esther taught in a one-room schoolhouse in her hometown before venturing east to help a close friend. Esther met her husband, Paul at Fort Meade, Maryland during WWII where she was working, and he was serving in the Army Air Corp. After marrying, they made Batavia their home. 

Esther Marone’s joy and talent for teaching and community were evident in her various pursuits. She taught at St. Anthony’s School in Batavia for more than 20 years and loved running in to several generations of former students, often being told she was their favorite teacher. She went on to serve as the Medical Librarian at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia for another 20 years. She was proud to serve on the Board of Trustees for Richmond Memorial Library, spearheading a library funding committee and helping to secure County funds for the six public libraries for the first time. She founded the local chapter of Literacy Volunteers, dedicated to helping people of all ages learn to read. Esther Marone was a woman of faith and was a member of Resurrection Parish. 

She is survived by her children, Pamela (John) Notebaert of Bloomfield, NY; David (Regina) Marone of Brimley, MI; Margaret “Peggy” Marone of Batavia; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Thomas Feeley) Notebaert M.D., Andrew (Angela) Notebaert, Brigid (Steven) Heiny, David (Shannon) Marone Jr., Nikole Marone, Daniel (Jessica) Marone, and Kathleen (Nicholas) Martin; 13 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 12:00PM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday September 15, 2023 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s) 18 Ellicott St. Batavia , NY 14020. Mrs. Marone will be laid to rest along with her husband, Paul in Western New York National Cemetery in Corfu.

Joan K. Iannello

LeRoy ~ Joan K. Iannello, age 93, formerly of East Main Street, passed away on Wednesday (June 28, 2023) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     She was born April 7, 1930 in Clifton Springs, NY, a daughter of the late Dr. G. Henry (Hank) and Ruth Gregory Knoll.

  Joan will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend to many.  She had many hobbies and enjoyed painting, dancing, singing, reading, playing bridge and fishing, both at Horseshoe Lake and in Canada.  Joan was also a well-known and respected real estate salesperson, working out of the office of Rider Real Estate.

     She is survived by her children, Gregory (Paula) Iannello of Verona and Barbara (Thomas) McVeigh of Rochester; grandchildren, Nicholas (Alana) Iannello, Amanda Iannello (Neal) Collins, Ashley (Donald) Latremore, Anthony (Talysa) Iannello, Gregory (Laura) Iannello Jr. and Daniel (Courtney) McVeigh; nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Carol Iannello; along with many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Russell Iannello and sister, Jacqueline Unger.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 6 from 11AM ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy, where her Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM.  Interment in Machpelah Cemetery will be private.

Allan Kenneth Blossom

Allan Kenneth Blossom of South Byron, NY continued his journey on June 26, 2023. He was born 7/5/44 in Rochester, NY to Bristol and Eugenia (Welton) Blossom. He married his high school sweetheart, Mariellen (Todd) Blossom on 7/2/66.

Allan is also survived by his sisters Joanne Grape, and Jeanne (Rick) Avant. Daughter Christine (Ken White) and son Scott (Tonya) Blossom. Grandchildren Erica (David) Mohney, Taylor (Nathan) White, Alieda (John Parks) Blossom, Elizabeth (Christopher) Penkszyk and Amber (Matthew) Gillman. Great grandchildren Brielle, Damian, Johannes, Magnolia, Willow, Antonio and 2 more (Lily and Violet) this summer.

He was a life member of the South Byron Volunteer Fire Company and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. His interests included camping, model railroading, plastic canvas and became a fan of NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills and NY Mets.

The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at UMMC, Rochester General, Unity, and LeRoy Village Green for the care and comfort they gave to Allan over the past year.

A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at St. James Episcopal Church, 406 East Main Street, Batavia, NY. Following the service, a reception will be held at the South Byron Volunteer Fire Company at 7389 Rte 237, South Byron.

Eugene F. "Frank" Flynn

Eugene Francis (Frank) Flynn of Attica, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Saint Patrick’s Day, 2023. Frank was born Oct. 30, 1931, to John Flynn and Anne McDemott Flynn.

Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is predeceased by his son, James; and is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Hyland) Flynn; son, Patrick (Julie) Flynn; daughters, Kathleen (Patrick) Crooks, Christine (Tommy) Kerns; granddaughters, Shelby Flynn, Leah Crooks, and Sarah Crooks, (Matthew Worsowicz): great grandson, Rowan Worsowicz-Crooks; and grandniece, Trinnity Wheatle.

Upon graduation from Attica High School, Frank entered the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served from 1952 through 1954 in the Korean War. As a result of his services, he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Upon leaving the military, Frank became a New York State Corrections Officer and retired after 35 years.

He was a lifetime member of Saints Joachim and Anne Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 734 and VFW Post 6239. He enjoyed sports and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed cooking, traveling, siting on his porch in Attica and listening to country music. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and being a snowbird in Haines City, Fla., brought him great enjoyment. No matter where he was, one of the things that he was most known for was his quick wit and making people laugh. His sense of humor will be missed.

There will be no prior calling hours. An 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish, 50 East Ave, Attica, NY 14011. Eugene will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

Warsaw - Scott D. Sanders 41 of Warsaw, formerly of Medina, has come to rest after battling severe illness.

Scott was born May 28. 1981 in Batavia a son of the late Gary and Sandra (Kingdollar) Sanders.

Scott is survived by his girlfriend of 20 years Tracy Phillips, brother Coby (Stacey) Sanders, brother David Kendall, many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to GCASA, 430 E, Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.

Florence M. "Floss" Williman

Florence M. “Floss” Williman, 90, of Attica, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born March 9, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William and Marie (Kolb) White. She is preceded in death by her brother, William White and son-in-law, Mark Hopfinger.

Mrs. Williman was a woman of very strong faith and put her family first her entire life. She loved doing crafts; sewing, knitting and crocheting. Floss knitted personalized Christmas stockings and cross stitched birth announcements for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was known for her “Christmas Socks” too. She was very supportive of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always attending their school activities and sporting events. Floss loved to bake, many would say she made the best pies in the world. She went tent camping when her children were young and enjoyed the annual family vacation every summer in Long Beach Island, NJ.

Mrs. Williman taught preschool, was on the Genesee Valley BOCES Board, Attica Central School Board and served as President at one point. She chaperoned school band trips, loved to read, and stayed up late enough on Friday nights to watch Blue Bloods. Floss was a very active 54 year member of St.Paul’s UCC; including being a member of Women’s Fellowship and the handbell choir. She traveled to many places with her family; Hawaii, Colorado, Florida, Italy, Austria and a Panama Canal Cruise to name a few. Mrs. Williman participated in American Field Service and hosted an exchange “daughter” Pam from Argentina.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Rev. Charles F. Williman of Attica; children, David (Jude) Williman of Attica, Marie Lowe of Attica, Jean (Ralph) Wirth of Varysburg, Susan (David) McPherson of Varysburg, Ruth Hopfinger of Attica; sister Marian Brunn of Sellersville, PA, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend an 11:00am Celebration of Floss’s Life on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ 11 Washington St. Attica, NY 14011. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
