Suzanne LeVine

Suzanne LeVine, 61 of Batavia passed away peacefully on Friday July 22, 2016 at her home. She was born February 16, 1955 in Wauseon, OH to Edward J. Sutherland of Batavia and the late Constance (Zogaib) Sutherland.  Suzanne is preceded in death by her husband John C. LeVine in 1998; brother-in-law Rich Sparaco.

Mrs. LeVine was a longtime teacher and was currently teaching at St. Christopher’s in Tonawanda. She was generous to a fault, did anything for anyone, and was hysterically funny. Suzanne loved to sing, was dedicated to teaching, her family, and left a permanent impression on everyone. She will be remembered forever as Devine LeVine. Suzanne was a sweet, generous, loving woman who touched so many lives. She will be missed by so many.  

She is survived by her beloved sisters Elaine Sutherland of Batavia; Colleen (Joseph) Head of Buffalo; Ann Sutherland of Batavia; Maria Sparaco of Milton, NY; niece Kaitlin (Daniel) O’Keefe, nephews Richie and John Sparaco.

Isabelle Catherine Rada

  Isabelle Catherine Rada, 95, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday July 21, 2016 at Genesee County Nursing Home.  She was born February 8, 1921 in Alabama, NY to the late Mathias (Helen Meyer) Tretter.  Mrs. Rada is preceded in death by her husband Raymond J. Rada; son Roger Rada; brother Paul Tretter; sisters Joan Moynihan, Mary Tretter, Teresa Dehm, Sister Theresa Florence Tretter, daughter-in-law Onlee Rada.

Mrs. Rada was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish, and the Legion of Mary. She worked at the NYS School for the Blind in Batavia for 25 years. Most of all she was a devoted and loving mother to her five children. Family was her greatest joy.

She is survived by her beloved children Patricia (Donald) Hayles of AZ; Richard (Cindy) Rada; Helen (Mark) Weibel of Batavia; Donald (Kristy) Rada of Byron; brother Carl Tretter of Batavia; daughter-in-law Jolynne Rada of Batavia; brothers-in-law Kenneth Dehm and Donald Moynihan of Batavia; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ruth W. Lange

Ruth W. Lange, 89, of Attica, died peacefully on July 20, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 30, 1926, in Greigsville, NY, to the late Chauncey and Evelyn Barrett Wellman. Mrs. Lange is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Kilian Lange, who died May 24, 1996; brother, Donald Wellman; along with a sister- and brother-in-law, Ruth and Reg Roys.

A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Attica, she was first employed as a hairdresser and went on to work at GTE Sylvania, retiring after 28 years of service.

She is survived by a son, David (Marilyn) Lange; daughter, Marcia (Robert) Perry; three granddaughters, Karen (Adam) LaDuke; Suzanne (Greg) Scholand; and Danielle Perry; three great- granddaughters, Naomi, Sally, and Margo LaDuke; a sister-in-law, Carol Wellman; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hans J. Boxler Sr.

Hans J. Boxler, Sr., of Varysburg passed away unexpectedly on Sunday (July 18, 2016) at the age of 81. He was born May 15, 1935, in Buffalo, a son of the late Joseph and Lea (Jäeggi) Boxler. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his son John Boxler; daughter-in-law Debra Boxler and sisters Gretchen Praller and Mary Boxler.

Hans was a longtime member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish in Varysburg, NYS Farm Bureau, and the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. Hans was a life-long dairy farmer and visionary whose love of animals encouraged him to create Hidden Valley Animal Adventure where he shared his love for God’s animals with others. Hans had many interests and passions. He was active in tractor pulling for over 45 years belonging to the National Tractor Pullers Association, Empire State Pullers, Pro Pulling League, and NYS Tractor Pullers Association. Other interests included traveling, dancing, collecting antique farm equipment, going to auctions, working with his Belgian horses, and visiting farms.

He was well respected by the community and supported the community by organizing the annual Old Fashioned Harvest Days to benefit multiple charities including the Varysburg Fire Department, Sheldon Baseball and St. Vincent’s Catholic School.

He was a man of great generosity and faith, putting God above his greatest love…FAMILY.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years Rose Boxler; Children Hans Boxler Jr., Kathleen (Richard) Luce, Barbara (D. Jeffrey) Dominesey, David (Ella) Boxler, Thomas (Lisa) Boxler, Michael Boxler all of Varysburg, Susan (Jeffrey) Cusmano of Attica and Lori (Christin) Domes of Attica; grandchildren Melissa (Anthony), Melinda, Brittany (John), Christina, Lisa (Eric), Andrew, Ashley (Michael), Jesse, Chelsey, Lindsey, Augustus, Nicholas, Tyler, Jacob, Tasha (James), Nichole, Katlyn, Warren (Rebecca), Laken (Joseph), Bradford, Gregory, Dylan, Samuel, Andrew, Ellie, Jack, Cash, Gage, Eden and Ivy; great grandchildren Lexi, Levi, Bailey, Grant, Talon and Sicilia along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Kathy J. Johnson

LeRoy - Kathy J. Johnson, 64, of LeRoy, passed away at her home in LeRoy on Monday, July 18, 2016.

Mrs. Johnson was born December 19, 1951 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marilyn Bresslin Frederick.

Her husband, Kenneth "Smokey" J.  Johnson, Jr., passed away on May 4, 1997.

She is survived by her children, Amber (Josh) Hutchings of Batavia, Ed Letts, Jr. of LeRoy and Trisha Letts of Florida; three grandchildren, Alec Johnson, Nikolai and Madison Hutchings; two sisters, Michelle Frederick-Freeman of Wyoming and Jill Frederick of Rochester; brother-in-law, Edward (Cathi) Johnson of Salem, Oregon, three sisters-in-law, Donna (Wally) Douglas of Sinclairville, Sandra (Tommy) Dees of Lakeland, Florida and Linda (Doug) Hagen of Batavia; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no prior calling hours. Kathy’s memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Cris (Gillen) Condidorio

LeRoy ~ Cris (Gillen) Condidorio passed peacefully Monday, July 18, 2016 under the loving care of her family, at the age of 55.

     She was born June 4, 1961 and was the daughter of James Gillen and the late Julie Gillen. She is predeceased by her brother Michael Gillen.

    

She is survived by her adoring husband of 34 years, Joe Condidorio; her children Zac, Chad, and Reilly Condidorio & Ben Schwenebraten and her sweet puppy, Tucker; her siblings, Kathleen Carlson, Joe (Brenda) Gillen, John (Deborah) Gillen; mother and father-in-law Joe (Florence) Condidorio; her sisters-in-law, Beth (Randy) Bartz, Dar Condidorio; her brothers-in- law, Greg (Deb), Jeff (Donna), Pat, Doug (Rhonda), Mike, John (Sue Eckert), Tom (Charity) Condidorio and many nieces and nephews.

     She was a member of the Warsaw High School Class of 1979.  Cris taught at Victor Schools for 16 years as a Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher. Cris was a passionate, caring, and dedicated teacher, who strived to leave her loving touch on all of her “honeypots” as well as the coworkers she taught with.

     Family was always her priority. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoyed reading, gardening and maintaining her beautiful home for her family.

            Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 from 2 ~ 4 and    6 ~ 9 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Her Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy.  Interment in St. Francis Cemetery will be private.

David Maglio

David Maglio, 73 of Batavia, formerly of Perry, passed away on July 17, 2016 at Batavia Health Care Center. He was born in North Collins on December 14, 1942 to the late Benedict Maglio and Marie (Fiaschetti) Maglio of Hamburg. He is preceded in death by sisters Helen Maglio, and Evelyn Maglio-Kelly.

Dave enjoyed his grandchildren, his days selling cars at Maglio Chevrolet, casino trips, playing poker with his friends, and long historical conversations.

David is survived by his brother Larry Maglio of Perry; son Jeff (Jessica Mills) Maglio of Leicester; daughter Julie (Daryl) Schneider of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Amanda Maglio, Michael Maglio, and Jacob Schneider, along with many nieces and nephews.

Russell Salvatore Barone

Russell Salvatore Barone, 90, passed away peacefully in Mount Morris, NY on July 15th, 2016 in his daughter’s home surrounded by the love of his family. 

Born July 10th, 1926, Russ was the first of three sons raised by Frank and Rose (Cappadonia) Barone of Stanley Street in Mount Morris.  Upon graduating from Mount Morris High School in 1944, Russ enlisted in the Army and served throughout Europe during WWII.  He received an honorable discharge from the Armed Services on August 19th, 1946. A handsome young man, many girls chased Russ but it was Margaret Miceli who captured his heart.  They were married for 25 years and raised two daughters, Michelle and Rosemary.  Margie passed away in 1974 after battling breast cancer, in the same home where Russ passed years later.  He is also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Louis Barone, who like Russ served in the military and enjoyed careers as school principals.

Russell used the G.I. Bill to become the first member of his family to attend college, graduating from Geneseo Teachers College in 1952.  He went on to become the beloved principal of Perry Elementary School from 1970-1985.  During his tenure Mr. Barone enriched the lives of countless students and teachers, and will forever be remembered as a pillar of his community. Russell was married to Julie (Richards) in October 1976.  They were married for 39 years and enjoyed many good times together by traveling, spending time with their families, wintering in Florida, and performing educational puppet shows under the name ‘Arjay Productions’. 

Russ loved sports, playing baseball, basketball, and soccer in his youth.  Later he became an avid walker and golfer.  A member of Silver Lake Golf Course, Russ enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and family, highlighted by making two ‘holes-in-one’ during a week in 1985.Russell Barone wrote in his journal, “The heart is healthiest when it beats for others”, which he embodied through his devotion to his family.  He wrote letters to us often and signed them “Love, Your Poppy”, as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren.  To everyone lucky enough to share their life with him, Poppy always gave his full attention and made you feel special.  He found the best in others and made people feel like the best version of themselves.  He will forever be remembered as a shining example of what a man should be.  We Love You Poppy, and will live each day to make you proud. 

Russ is survived by his daughters Michelle and Rosemary; his wife Julie; his stepchildren Ron, Larry, and Carol; his 10 grandchildren; Corey, Chelsey, Dylan, Cara, Jessica, Ben, Natalie, Melissa, Michael, and Juliana; and his 8 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. in Perry, NY on Thursday, July 21st from 3:00-9:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 71 Leicester Street in Perry, NY on Friday July 22nd at 11:00AM.  Russell Barone will be laid to rest in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Mount Morris, NY.

Jonah Robinson Moshier

Byron - Jonah Robinson Moshier, 21 months, of Byron, went to be with Jesus with his loving family by his side on Sunday (July 17, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Jonah was born October 12, 2014 in Rochester, a son of April Elizabeth (Moshier) Prinzi of Byron.

Jonah was a joy ever since he was born, always smiling and laughing, even when he was in clinic.  Throughout his fight, he never complained.

He loved his mother and the time they spent snuggling together and taking long walks in his baby wrap with her.  Jonah loved when his big brother would tickle his toes and play little piggy with him and when his big sister would read him his bed time story.

He was always splashing in the wave pool and kept his favorite stuffed monkey close to his side.  Jonah loved riding and being pushed around in his little car.  Jonah enjoyed listening to the Banana Boat Song and Claude Debussy.

Jonah, there is no more tubes or pain, you can see now.

Surviving along with his mother are his brother, Carter Prinzi of Byron; his sister, Natalie Prinzi of Byron; grandparents, Ron and Gwen Moshier of Beaver Dams; uncle, Brad Prinzi of Bergen; uncle and aunt, Steve and Jessica Moshier of Horseheads; two cousins, Christopher Moshier and Parker Moshier, both of Horseheads and his loving and extended church, hockey and work families.

Jonah is predeceased by his great-grandmother, Viola Moshier and a special cousin, Dustin Drake.  

Calling hours are Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia.  Services will be at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday also at the church.  

Memorials may be made to the family to establish college funds for Carter and Natalie.

Berta M. Poole

Berta M. Poole

Batavia - Berta M. Poole, 73, of Batavia, and Paden City, WV, a former employee in the bakery at Jubilee Foods in Batavia, died Friday, July 15, 2016 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, in Wheeling, WV.

Mrs. Poole was born April 23, 1943 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Raymond and Arlene (Dunham) Little.

She was a member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church, Corfu Garden Club and was an avid quilter, gardener and baker.  She served as a secretary and past president and was active for over 50 years with the Town of Batavia Fire Department Auxiliary and was as active firefighter with the fire department for 30 years. 

She is survived by her husband, Gregory A.  Poole, whom she married on May 18, 1963; 3 children,  Tammy (Robert) D'Agostino of Oakfield, Raymond (Suzanne) Cassata Poole of Canandaigua and Charlene Poole of Batavia; 6 grandchildren, Ronald, Christopher, Dominic, Kyle, Tyler and Justin and 2 great-granddaughters, Nuria and Fatima; a sister, Sally (George) Bell of Batavia and several nieces and nephews. 

She was the mother of the late Wendy L. Poole.

MARTIN H. SCHOFF

MARTIN H. SCHOFF

Age 83, of Pavilion, died peacefully Friday July 8, 2016 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. He was born February 14, 1933 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Edward and Isabella (Hammerschmidt) Schoff.

Mr. Schoff was a longtime employee of LeRoy Machine, in his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid fan of Sherlock Holmes novels.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 58 years, Cecelia (Howard) Schoff of Pavilion; children, Jennifer Schoff of Pavilion, Bridget Schoff of Avon, Isabella Poss of Chili, Marty (Diane) Schoff of E. Pembroke and Christopher (Cecilia) Schoff of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Kelly, Nichole, Lynda, Garret, Kyle, Rhebeka, Matthew, Chris, Emily, Katie, Eric & Zachary along with 10 great-grandchildren.

There is no prior visitation and the Schoff family invites all to attend Martin's Mass of Christian Burial 2:00PM Saturday July 23 at Immaculate Mary Parish 5865 Ellicott Street Road East Bethany. Memorials in his memory are suggested to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department.

Herman J. Miller

Herman J. Miller, 84 of North Java, passed peacefully on July 14, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. He was born February 21, 1932 in Sheldon to the late Catherine (Collier) Miller. Mr. Miller is preceded in death by two sons David and Gregory Miller; granddaughter Randall Miller; along with nine siblings.   

Mr. Miller was a combat Veteran that served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the VWF, Legion, Moose Club, and Holy Family Parish. Mr. Miller was an avid fisherman, gardener, woodworker, and model airplane builder. He loved walking, traveling to Florida and being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Esther J. (Glaus) Miller of North Java; children Doug (Nancy) Miller of Cowlesville; Donna (Bob) Duncan of OR; Marianne (Lee) Clark of Attica; Sandra (Dan) Zandrowicz of North Java; sister Grace (Pete) Damico of Syracuse; 8 grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Peter Ziccardi

Peter Ziccardi, 94, of Batavia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia. He was born on May 2, 1922 in Batavia to the late Daniel and Frances (Baudanza) Ziccardi. He is predeceased by his loving wife Grace (Turazzo) Ziccardi who passed away in 2006; brothers Samuel and Adam Ziccardi; brothers in law John DioGuardi and Nicholas DiFalco.

Mr. Ziccardi was a United States Army Veteran, serving during WWII with the Mechanized Calvary Unit in the South Pacific for over 3 years where he earned numerus Medals. After the war, he returned home and had a 30 plus year career with the New York State Department of Corrections prior to his retirement. He was a member at the VFW #1602, St. Mary’s RC Church and was a Life Member at St. Nicholas Club and a former member of the Moose Club in Batavia. Peter was avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing, golfing and making wine.

He is survived by a daughter Francine (Vincent) Chilano of Batavia; a son Peter (Beth) Ziccardi of Batavia; sisters Angeline DioGuardi of OH, Mary Ann DiFalco of Batavia; grandchildren Ashley (Fiancé Joshua Platt) Ziccardi of Batavia, Michael (Fiancé Tiffany Monde) Ziccardi of Rochester, Christopher Chilano of Batavia, Nicholas (Anna) Chilano of CA; 1 great grandson Luca Chilano, along with several nieces and nephews.

Harry T. "Hatter" Morith

Batavia - Harry T. “Hatter” Morith, 96, of Batavia, a Rural Letter Carrier at US Postal Service in Batavia, prior to his retirement, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Harris Hill Nursing Facility, in Williamsville.

Mr. Morith was born March 4, 1920 in Batavia, a son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Taylor) Morith.

He served with the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945, attended the First Baptist Church of Batavia and loved to dance.  He was with the US Postal Service for 31 years and previously with the Daily News for 20 years as an advertising salesman.

His wife, Betty Jane (Kelley) Morith, died November 30, 2011.

Survivors include 4 step-daughters, Judy (Samuel) Meyer and Marilyn (Jack) Mosier, both of Akron and Linda Fotheringham and Roberta Tabone, both of Las Vegas; a brother, Robert (Fay) Morith of Batavia; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was the brother of the late George E. Morith, Franklin J. Morigh, Charles P. Morith, William J. Morith, Gordon L. Morth, Gilbert Morith, Violet Armstrong and Gertrude Precore.  

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 E. Main St., Batavia, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery in Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020.

Wayne M. Markek

Batavia - Wayne M. Markek, 64, passed away peacefully Monday evening (July 11, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Wayne was born March 20, 1952, in Batavia, a son of the late Steven and Ethel Markek. 
 
He enjoyed playing his guitar, going to Bingo, setting up trains with his son Tim, and enjoyed classic cars.
 
He is survived by his wife Cheryl (Swiatowy) Markek for 43 years; 3 children, Robert (Patricia) Markek of East Bethany, Erika (Jason) Ball of Ft. Mitchell, Ala., and Timothy Markek of Batavia; 3 grandchildren, Kali, Zander, and Ryder Markek; 4 sisters, Barbara (Late Alfred) Wagner, Shirley (Keith) Kraatz, Nancy (Leroy) Ball, and Susan Drybala; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Thursday, July 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B.  Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 E. Main St., Corfu. A funeral service will be held Friday at the Mortuary at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
