Barbara A. Szott

Corfu - Barbara A. (Romowicz) Szott, of Corfu, went to be with the Lord, Friday (April 21, 2017).
 
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John J. Szott.
 
Dear mother of Laurie (James) Kuhl and Mary Zambri, and also survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
 
Barbara was an active member of the Corfu United Presbyterian Church. 
 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at the Corfu United Presbyterian Church, 63 Allegheny Street, Corfu. All of her family and friends are welcome to attend.

Nina S. Consiglio

Nina S. Consiglio, age 93, of Perry, passed away on Tuesday April 25th at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where he had been residing. Nina was born in Perry on July 18, 1923 a daughter of the late Vito and Josephine (Lackuisa) Consiglio. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Edith and brother Santo.

Nina was a graduate of Perry High School. Nina worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill in Perry and later worked as a stenographer for the New York State Department of Corrections in Attica. She was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry. She enjoyed baking, gardening and spending time with family.

She is survived by 3 nephews; Joseph Consiglio of Bloomfield, Vito (Tracy McAllister) Consiglio and Santo Consiglio both of Gainesville; 2 nieces Janet Consiglio of Batavia and Josephine Consiglio of Dale, along with several great nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. An 11:00AM Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, New York 14530.
She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

WILLIAM "BILL" "WILLY" REISS

WILLIAM "BILL" WILLY" REISS

Age 91, died peacefully Friday April 21, 2017 at home while under the care of Hospice and his family. He was born April 15, 1926 in Batavia, NY to the late Wilhelm and Marie (Dietrich) Reiss also preceded in death by a brother, George Reiss. 

Mr. Reiss was a proud veteran of the Navy Seabees who served during WWII and a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bill went to work at 15 for the former Crickler's working his way up to Plant Manager as they turned to Pepsi-Cola, while also finding time to be a City of Batavia Fireman for about 10 years. A life member and former president of the Alexander Volunteer Fire Department, former Cub Scout leader and Harley Davidson motorcycle owner. Mr. Reiss was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and watching his granddaughters horse shows. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years whom he married on June 20, 1948, Marjorie (Hyde) Reiss of Alexander; daughters, Dawn J. (Kevin) McWhorter of Batavia, Pamela M. Reiss of Alexander and her children, Madeline & Chase; sons, William D. Reiss of FL and his children, Phillip & Katrina (Salvatore) Urso, Robin D. Reiss of Alexander, Daniel E. Reiss of Oakfield and daughter, Stephenie; 3 great-grandchildren, Madison, Salvatore, Jr. & Brady; brother, Roy Reiss of Indian Falls; sister, Elsie (Al) Clattenburg of Batavia; brothers-in-law, Fred L. (Sedra) Hyde, Jr. of Batavia, Ralph G. (late Juanita) Hyde of Batavia; sisters-in-law, Joyce (late Charles) Kuehl of Batavia and Joanne (late Richard) Hyde of FL along with several nieces and nephews. 

The Reiss family will be present from 3:00 - 5:30pm on Saturday April 29 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC at 4120 W. Mary M. Feary

Batavia - Mary M. Feary, 93, of Batavia, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Batavia.

Mrs. Feary was born August 15, 1923 in LeRoy, a daughter of the late Isadore and Anna (Dreher) Fiorito.

She was a member of Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Site since 1948, where she served in Sodality and was a Sacristan for many years.  She was an avid quilter with the Quilt Guild at Holland Land Office, enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, auctions and refinishing antiques.  She loved spending time with her family. 

Her husband, Richard P. Feary, died on March 24, 1995 and her son, Michael R. Feary died in 1959.

Survivors include 3 daughters. Anne Feary, Barbara (Bruce) Dedman and Patricia (Theodore) Hawley; a sister, Margaret Bradley of Livonia; 7 grandchildren, Amie Dedman, Jason Dedman, Andrew Dedman, Nicholas Dedman, Gillian Hawley, Gretchen Hawley and Samantha Hawley; 4 great-grandchildren, Gianna Dedman, Bianca Dedman, Brady Dedman and Jordyn Simon and several nieces and nephews. 

She was the sister of the late Leonard Fiorito and Catherine Amidon.  

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.  Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Site, 303 E. Margaret M. “Marge” Mancuso

Margaret M. “Marge” Mancuso, 93 of Batavia, died at home surrounded by her loving family and care givers on Wednesday March 15, 2017. She was born July 12, 1923 in Batavia, to the late Sydney (Susan Bowen) Gear. Marge is preceded in death by her husband Dominic B. Mancuso; her siblings Sydney, Irving, Elwyn, Marion and Genevieve.

Marge owned and operated Ceramic Bug Studio in Batavia. She brought much joy to her students and customers, teaching needle point, knitting, china painting and ceramics.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Patti (John) Michalak of Batavia; grandchildren Timothy (Sarah), Tamara, John; great-grandsons Aaron, Eli, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. An 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 at Ascension Parish 19 Sumner St. Batavia, NY 14020.

Charles L. Rieks

Charles L. Rieks, 74, of Greeneville, TN and Orange Park, FL passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017.  He was born July 6, 1942 in Warsaw, NY to the late Harvey and Edith Brower Rieks.
Mr. Rieks graduated from Pavilion Central School.  He worked at Caledonia Bean Plant, Rochester Telephone Company and retired from Amtote International of Hunt Valley, MD.  He worked in Buffalo, Batavia and Canandaigua before transferring to Jacksonville/Orange Park, FL.
Charles was a life member of Pavilion Fire Department and was instrumental in helping to establish the Pavilion Rescue Squad.  He was also an American Legion member.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1961-1967.
Mr. Rieks is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Smith) Rieks of Greeneville, TN; son Daniel (Lisa) Rieks of Batavia, NY; daughters, Roseann (Doug) Harris of Greeneville, TN, and Kelly (Daniel) Cordell of Stafford, NY; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Cotton of Greenville, TX; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (J.E.) Rieks of Silver Spring, MD, Judy (Nick) Cecci of Corning, NY and Patricia (Robert) Murphy of Wyoming, NY; brother-in-law, Gary Phillips of Attica, NY, step-brothers, Robert and Donald Hammond of Rochester, NY; many nieces and nephews; and a very special family friend, Brad Skwirsk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Edgar (Ed) Rieks.

Myron G. Chittenden

Corfu -- Myron G. Chittenden, 88, of Corfu, passed away Friday (April 21, 2017) at his home.
 
Myron was born on October 8, 1928, in Byron, a son of the late Edward and Emily Haskell Chittenden. He was the husband of the late Elaine Schmidt Chittenden and father of the late Donald M. and Jill (Bower) Chittenden.
 
Myron, along with his late wife Elaine, ran the family business, Chittenden Farm Produce of Corfu. He also started Myron Chittenden and Sons Roofing in 1968. Myron’s favorite pastimes were playing cards, especially euchre, and jigsaw puzzles.
 
Surviving are his children, Chris Chittenden (Marcy Johnson), Betty Chittenden Lord, Frank (Sue) Chittenden and Emily (John) Koch; eight grandchildren, Edward (Shelly) Chittenden, Jessica (Jeff) Rhodes, Jason (Elizabeth) Lord, Chase Lord, Zachary (Sarah) Chittenden, Cody Chittenden, Wyatt Chittenden and Brian Koch; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary Inc., 4 E. Main St., Corfu. Funeral services will be held from the mortuary at 11 a.m. on Thursday. John D. "Jack" McCarthy

  John D. “Jack” McCarthy, 86, of Alexander passed away peacefully on Friday April 21, 2017 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born in Dansville on January 29, 1931 to the late John M. and Ethel (Blausius) McCarthy. In addition to his parents, Jack is predeceased by his brother William Schaff and grandson David McCarthy.

Jack was a United States Army Veteran. He was employed with the New York State Department of corrections working at The Attica Correctional Facility for many years and then at Albion from where he retired. After retirement he moved with his wife to Orlando and worked with the Orange County Sheriff's Department for 10 more years. Jack loved to fish and hunt and spent many happy hours in those pursuits. More than these though he loved his family. He married the love of his life in September 1955 and they spent 62 years together. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Jack was a great storyteller and enjoyed when the family would gather together and he kept them laughing with his stories. In his later years he loved to hold his great-grandchildren and there were many people, both family and friends who called him “Grandpa Jack”.  Jack was a lifetime member of the Alexander Fire Department, a member of the VFW Joseph Collins post 6239 and the American Legion in Attica.

He is survived by his loving wife; Mary Ellen McCarthy; children Michael (Mary) McCarthy of Batavia, Marlene (Stefan) Worthington of Alexander, Lorrie (Jim) Gammack of Darien Center, Noreen (Mike) Gaiser of E. Bethany and Amy (Mike) Shaw of Alexander; 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Douglas A. Meyers

Douglas A. Meyers, 63, of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (April 21, 2017) at his residence.

He was born January 1, 1954 in Batavia, NY, son of the late Donald and Irene Duckworth Meyers.

Mr. Meyers was formerly employed with Comstock Foods in Bergen. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and researching various items on his computer. Most of all he enjoyed his family, where they were always his first priority in life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene Meyers, who passed away November 30, 2009.

Survivors include his fiancée, Pat Heaman of Batavia. Son, Michael (Ashley) Meyers of LeRoy. Daughter, Deanna Meyers of Geneva. Grandchildren, Shawn and Leah Meyers. Brother, Donnie (Sally) Meyers of Batavia. Step-mother, Norma Meyers of Batavia. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

DOROTHY R. SHERIDAN ~

Age 87, formally of Batavia, was reunited with her beloved Eddie Friday morning April 21, 2017 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born March 5, 1930 in Schenectady, NY a daughter of the late Alphonse and Katherine (Murphy) Boisvert also preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 2011; and sisters, Helen & June. 

Mrs. Sheridan was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's), was an LPN who served as a nurse aide with Batavia City Schools. She was a loving, wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed antiquing and travelling. 

Surviving are her loving children, Edward (Cathy) Sheridan of Shelton, WA, Dan Sheridan of Aspen, CO, Nancy (Steve) Siegel of Buffalo and Patricia Vargo of Oakfield; sister, Patricia (Nat) Mills of NC; 11 grandchildren Matt (Kristen), Benjamin (Jessica), Scott, Christopher (Michelle), Julie (Graham), James, Scott, Bridget, Brian, Jack & Katie; 4 great-grandchildren, Ian, Stella, Siena Rose & Mia along with many nieces and nephews. 

The family will be present from 4 - 5:30 pm on Wednesday April 26 at the MICHAEL S. Martha M. Austin, 69, of Batavia passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born on October 4, 1947 in Geneva, NY to the late Alfred and Agnes (Nielson) Jepsen. In addition to her parents, Martha is predeceased by her daughter Liza Espinoza.

Martha loved her animals, going to the casino and getting ice cream. She was the world’s biggest Elvis fan. She will forever be remembered for loving her family and everyone around her.

Martha is survived by her son; Albert (Charlotte) Jepsen of Batavia; Son in law Luis Espinoza; 6 grandchildren Aaron, Sabrina, Crystal, Jonathan, Cheyenne and Austin; 2 great grandchildren Aiden and Jenna along with many nieces and nephews.

BILLIE F. SKILL

BILLIE F. SKILL

Age 69, of Batavia, died peacefully Monday February 20, 2017 at Hospice of Orleans. She was born February 13, 1948 in Batavia, NY a daughter of Shelagh (Kennedy) Hoffman of Batavia and the late William "Coke" Hoffman also preceded in death by her husband, Philip Skill on April 19, 2016.

Billie was a graduate of Batavia High School, received her RN degree from GCC and worked for many years in the Batavia area, and a member of Resurrection Parish. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, especially trips to Las Vegas and area casinos. Billie had an affection for her four legged friend, "Scoots" the cat and often could be seen sitting on her front porch, which she loved to do during the summer months.

Surviving along with her mother are her beloved daughters, Jill of Charlotte, NC and Kelly of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Paul Hoffmann of Batavia, Rob (late Robin) Hoffman of FL and John (Gloria) Hoffman of CA; sisters-in-law, Joan Skill of Williamsville and Dolores Russo of Pittsford along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

LARRY R. THRONEBURG ~ Batavia

Age 66, died peacefully Sunday April 16, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born September 19, 1950 in Norfolk, VA to the late John F. and Mary (Edwards) Throneburg, Jr. also preceded in death by siblings, John F. Throneburg, III and Deborah L. Kadon. 

Larry grew up in Virginia, led a very simple life and worked many years for the Kroger Grocery chain. He enjoyed fishing, Little League Baseball games, the outdoors and tending to flower gardens. 

Surviving is his loving wife, Patty Jo (Hart) Throneburg of Batavia; daughter, Danyel H. (R.C. Sifford) Warren; son, Stephen R. Throneburg; sisters, Grace (James) Updyke, Marcia (Hank) Hodgkins and Mary Beth Blackman; brother, Arthur Throneburg; step-sisters, Kay Fraizer and Terri Werts; grandchildren, Christopher Warren, Shelby Sifford & Layla Throneburg along with and aunt and numerous cousins.

Lorraine E. Pillo

Batavia - Lorraine E. Pillo, 52, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday (April 20, 2017) at United Memorial Medical Center.

Lorraine was born January 18, 1965 in Batavia, a daughter of Zada (Wilkie) Phillips of Batavia and the late Loren Phillips.

Lorraine loved life, the sunshine, going to yard sales and spending time with her mother and her dog, Nikki. 

Surviving along with her mother are her son, Robert Alcott of Covington; one daughter, Alisha Pillo of Batavia; one sister, Lynn (Dominic) Canpana of Arizona and a close family friend, Chris Goodie of Churchville.

Lorraine is a sister of the late David Phillips.  

There are no prior calling hours and private services will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Batavia.

Norma J. Morris

Norma J. Morris, 81, of Varysburg passed away on Friday April 7, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. She was born on October 12, 1935 in Orchard Park to the late Norman and Grace (Devel) Sieg. In addition to her parents, Norma is predeceased by her husband Walter Morris.

She is survived by her brother; Doug (Katherine) Sieg; niece Shelly (Ron) Pasquarelli; nephew Aaron (Shelby Fonda) Sieg; great nieces Leah and Sarah Pasquarelli, Grace Fonda; great nephews Lucas Pasquarelli and Garrett Sieg.

Norma was a lifetime member of the Varysburg Valley Gospel Church, 2442 Main St. Rt. 20 Varysburg, NY 14167 where her Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at 6:30PM. There were no prior calling hours and interment was private at Varysburg Cemetery.
