A car accident with injuries is reported in the area of 6673 Albion Road in Oakfield. A patient is said to be feeling dizzy and light-headed. Mercy medics are responding.

One-car accident on Batavia-Oakfield TL Road

A one-car rollover accident is reported at 3319 Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road. There are injuries. The vehicle is down a small embankment and on its roof and the victims are outside now. Oakfield Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The location is halfway between Route 63 and South Pearl Road.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m.: The Oakfield assignment is back in service. The patients were sign-offs.

No injuries reported after car rear-ends school bus at Lake and Mill, Le Roy

A car reportedly rear-ended a school bus at Lake and Mill streets, Le Roy, at about 6:50 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

There was air bag deployment on the passenger vehicle, but the driver claimed no injuries.

A Le Roy fire chief responded to the scene and determined that fire police could handle traffic and Le Roy's engine need not respond so traffic could be kept moving.

By 7:09 a.m., the vehicles were moved off the road and Le Roy fire was back in service.

Le Roy Ambulance reported no injuries to the school bus passengers either. A school official arrived on scene to take charge of the three passengers on the bus.

Head-on collision with serious injuries on Route 5, Stafford

A serious injury, head-on collision is reported at 6372 Route 5 in front of A.D. Call & Sons Trucking company. One victim has a compound leg fracture. Extrication will be needed. Two Mercy rigs are called. Route 5 is completely blocked in both directions and will be shut down at Route 237. Mercy Flight is in route. Stafford Fire Department is responding along with mutual aid from Le Roy. Law enforcement is on scene.

UPDATE 6:55 a.m.: Stafford Fire Hall will be the landing zone.

UPDATE 6:57 a.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 7:09 a.m.: Town of Batavia's Engine 24 is at the Stafford Fire Hall. The state DOT is notified that a lot of salt will be needed on the roadway before Route 5 can be reopened.

UPDATE 7:17 a.m.: The victim has been extricated.

UPDATE 7:22 a.m.: An ambulance is transporting a patient to the landing zone at the fire hall.

UPDATE 7:30 a.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 7:34 a.m.: Le Roy is returning to service. The second ambulance called in is also back in service.

UPDATE 8:01 a.m.: The roadway is reopened. Stafford and mutual aid back in service.

UPDATE 9:20 a.m. (By Howard): One person suffered leg serious leg injuries in the accident. Because the Chevy sedan's airbags didn't deploy and the driver did not appear to be wearing a seat belt, there is concern of internal injuries. The patient was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight. He had not yet been identified.

The driver of the pickup truck was Timothy Parmenter. Parmenter said he was westbound on Route 5 when he saw the sedan on the north shoulder heading eastbound. The sedan's driver tried to correct and get back into the eastbound lane.

"I was trying to head away from him, but he was kind of following me and I couldn't get away from him," Parmenter said.

Parmenter was not injured.

He said when he got out of his truck, another person was tending to the driver of the sedan, "trying to calm him down."

Deputy John Duyssen said it appeared that the front windshield of the sedan was completely iced over -- on the inside.

Duyssen said there were two uninvolved eastbound cars that were immediately behind the Chevy sedan. The drivers did not stop at the scene. He said it's very important the drivers in those cars contact investigators and provide witness statements. He's asking that the drivers immediately call either Investigator Kris Kautz or Deputy Chris Parker at (585) 343-5000.

UPDATE 5:19 p.m.: The driver of the sedan has been identified aas Robert C. Putney, 55, of Main Road, Stafford. Citations were issued for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and not wearing a seat belt. Putney reportedly told Deputy Chris Parker that his windshield was not defrosted and that he couldn't see clearly.

Minor injury accident reported on Route 77, just north of Indian Falls Road

A person is complaining of neck pain following an accident on Route 77 just north of Indian Falls Road.

One car is off the roadway.

Pembroke and Indian Falls responding along with Mercy EMS.

UPDATE 8:47 a.m.: The car sideswiped a tree. The only complain of pain stems from the seat belt brushing against the driver's neck, according to a chief on scene.

UPDATE 9:18 a.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls back in service.

Accident reported on Bloomingdale Road, Alabama

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 373 Bloomingdale Road, Alabama. Mercy Flight is called to respond and a landing zone will be set up at the parking lot of the Tonawanda Community Building. Alabama Fire Department is on scene along with Mercy medics and State Troopers.

UPDATE 9:51 p.m.: This accident also involves a 16-year-old male who was riding a bicycle. He is said to be disoriented and unaware of what took place.

UPDATE 9:54 p.m.: Mercy Flight #5 has landed.

UPDATE 10:03 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 10:21 p.m.: Alabama fire is back in service.

Route 77 at Phelps Road closed to northbound traffic for accident

A motor-vehicle accident on Route 77 has led to the closure of the highway to northbound traffic at Phelps Road.

The initial call for the accident indicated there was a vehicle on fire, but no injuries. 

By the time the first fire chief arrived on scene, the fire was out, but he also found three people reporting minor injuries.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched along with Mercy EMS.

Driver allegedly dozes off and strikes mailbox on Main Street in Corfu

A car struck a mailbox at 1410 Main St. in Corfu, by the Holiday Hollow, and the driver is complaining of head pain. "He states he dozed off..." according to the dispatcher. There was air bag deployment. The car is off the roadway. The location is between Boyce and Alleghany roads. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with medics.

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.: Pembroke command tells the Pembroke crew they can stand down. The vehicle involved is a white pickup truck.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: Law enforcement also responded. The Pembroke assignment is back in service. The driver is being taken to UMMC.

UPDATE 3 p.m.: The driver is a 52-year-old male with complaints of head and neck pain.

Three-car accident reported on Route 63 near East Road, Bethany

A three-car, head-on accident is reported on Route 63 near East Road, Bethany.

Injuries are reportedly minor, with one person complaining of hip pain and another with a leg injury.

UPDATE 6:28 a.m.: Traffic is being shut down at Transit and East roads.

UPDATE 6:33 a.m.: A deputy on scene says just two vehicles are involved.

UPDATE 6:58 a.m.: Patient number one has been extricated.

Accident reported on West Main Street

A motor-vehicle accident is reported in the area of 379 W. Main St., Batavia.

Unknown injuries.

City fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 5:29 p.m.: It's reported as a T-bone accident.

Car wreck with injuries at West Main Street Road and Kelsey Road

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at West Main Street Road and Kelsey Road in the Town of Batavia. East Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy medics are responding, with two ambulances. One person has a back injury and three others have minor injuries, according to a medic at the scene. The vehicles are blocking traffic.

UPDATE 10:39 a.m.: A third ambulance is requested.

UPDATE 10:58 a.m.: Three patients are being taken to UMMC. They are an 81-year-old male who was a back seat passenger and he has a four-inch cut on the back of his head, a 65-year-old female with unspecified injuries, and an 82-year-old female with chest pain.

UPDATE 11:10 a.m.: The East Pembroke assignment is back in service.

Car crash at Main and Bank streets in the city

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Main and Bank streets. A 79-year-old female complains of chest pain and trouble breathing. City fire, Mercy medics and police are responding.

UPDATE 11 a.m.: Main at Ellicott will briefly be closed to eastbound traffic until a tow truck removes the vehicle.

Car shears off pole on Bank Street Road, Batavia, injuries reported

A car struck a pole at 7705 Bank Street Road. There are injuries and the pole is sheared off. Town of Batavia fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 6:29 p.m.: An elderly male driver appears disoriented. A tractor driver has purposely blocked off the road, which is made hazardous by the downed pole. The wires appear to be phone or cable, not electrical.

UPDATE 6:33 p.m.: The driver is an 87-year-old male with a cut on his face.

UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: The wires have been cut and the pole will be removed from the roadway shortly.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: The roadway is reopened. The vehicle will be towed. Town of Batavia returning to service.

UPDATE 6:58 p.m.: The patient is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Photos: Minor injury accident on West Main Street near River Street this afternoon

At about 3:30 p.m., a car driven by a female struck the back of a semi-trailer on West Main Street near the intersection of River Street.

Both vehicles were westbound.

City fire, City PD and Mercy EMS all responded.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to UMMC for evaluation.

No further information available at this time.

Accident with injuries reported on Route 19 at Selden Road

A two-car motor vehicle accident is reported on Route 19 and Selden Road, Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and ambulance dispatched.

There are reportedly a number of cars off the road at Ford Hill.

UPDATE 6:54 a.m.: A chief on scene confirms multiple cars off the road. Route 19 is being shut down.

UPDATE 6:55 a.m.: DOT requested to the scene. Heavy ice conditions. More manpower requested to the scene.

UPDATE 7 a.m.: Another vehicle is reported off the road on Griswold Road, Le Roy, with significant damage. There's also a property damage accident, reported before the one on Route 19, on Perry Road. The travel ban for the county was only just lifted now.

UPDATE 7:06 a.m.: A deputy informs dispatch that unless DOT can get the road cleaned up, Route 19 is going to be shut down for a while.

UPDATE 7:11 a.m.: Le Roy's ambulance, with no patients to treat, is being repositioned at Selden Road so its emergency lights can be used to help control traffic. It's in service if needed for a medical call. A DOT plow just arrived on scene, but the truck doesn't have any salt. A chief says, "He can't help us. Don't send him through. I don't need that here."

UPDATE 7:56 a.m.: All vehicles have been removed. Le Roy fire is keeping the road shut down until it's salted. The DOT truck is expected back, with salt.

  • From UMMC: All services of United Memorial will resume today with the following exceptions due to the weather: Jerome Center Diagnostics will delay opening until 8 a.m., Elective Surgery will be delayed one hour, and Pembroke Diagnostics will be closed this morning. Patients should not drive until the travel ban has been lifted. All staff should plan to report to work as scheduled for today unless notified by their manager.
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension Genesee County will delay start time today till 9 am.
  • Trash pick-up by Nu Way is delayed a day.

There is hope the travel ban currently in place for Genesee County will be lifted in the morning.

Two accidents reported, one in Darien, another in the city

There are two accidents reported -- one on West Main at Lyons and the other in Darien on Route 20 near Harper Road.

The accident in the city is reportedly head-on, but with one minor injury.

Minor injuries also reported in Darien. The conditions there are described as zero visibility.

Alexander is asked to close Route 20 to westbound traffic.

From the fire in Pavilion, Pavilion fire is back in service.
