DSP plays live jazz at T.F. Brown’s in Batavia

DSP-D is for dinner and drinks, S for social interaction, and P is for plenty of fun and great jazz dinner music, this Thursday Nov. 16 at T.F. Brown’s in Batavia from 5-8 p.m. with Derek, Skip, Pete, Rick and the gang making it happen. Having you there makes it happen for us! And with Thanksgiving just a week away, let’s be thankful to have great friends, like you, who continue to support our live music.

TF Brown’s is the spot. Time to get yourself out to TF Brown’s on Thursday Oct 19th from 5-8 p.m. for food, drink, great jazz tunes, and a change of season.  Bound to hear “Autumn Leaves” from the song list. Special thanks to Rick Mancuso for agreeing to keep it going. The DSP Jazz Trio will play TF Brown’s on the 3rd Thursday of each month thru the 2018 year as well!

Brown’s Restaurant in Batavia from 5-8 p.m. this coming Thursday, Aug 18. Another fine evening of Jazz, food, drinks and friendship.

Season opening concert of Corfu-Pembroke Community Band

Corfu-Pembroke Community Band welcomes David Stringham back to the podium as guest conductor for its 30th season concert at Darien Lakes State Park, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28th. It’s free! Skip Taylor, retired Pembroke Music teacher, started this group in 1985 as a Moms and Pops Band and it has grown to approximately 40 members. Phil Briatico will also be guest conducting. Come hear the wonderful sounds of this group! The concert will be held at Shelter #2. Picnic tables are available but you are welcome to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.

Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble’s Spring concert ‘Turning Points’ at Elba School auditorium

The Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert “Turning Points” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, in the auditorium at Elba Central School. This event is intended to help expose our community to different and familiar genres of musical works, thereby education them and helping our organization further develop skills though preparation and performance of this music. The school is located at 57 S. Main St.

Pembroke HS holds inaugural Alumni Concert to benefit its Music Department

The Pembroke Music Department will be hosting the first ever Pembroke Music Alumni Concert on Memorial Day Weekend! There are currently more than 40 people registered from the classes of 1960 – 2015, from Tennessee to Florida, and from Connecticut to Corfu! The choral selections include: The National Anthem, Pembroke Alma Mater, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus,” “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin, “O Sifuni Mungu,” and “Rhythm of Life” from “Sweet Charity.” The public concert is 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Pembroke High School, located at 2486 Main Road, Corfu.

Singer-songwriter Sonny Mayo to perform free at GCC’s Stuart Steiner Theatre

Sonny Mayo will perform at the Stuart Steiner Theatre at Genesee Community College from 2:30–3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29th. The concert is free and open to the public. BMI Singer-songwriter, Sonny Mayo, released his first album, “So Far So Good,” out of Nashville in 1981. Mayo’s debut release was critically acclaimed by “Record World” magazine and culminated a six-year apprenticeship in Los Angeles & Nashville. Since then, Sonny Mayo has released 10 albums on the indie label, Thunder Road Music. Mayo’s most recent CD, The Patriot, is an all-acoustic production.
