A house fire is reported at 6000 Horseshoe Lake Road, Stafford.

All occupants are out of the house. There are animals in the house. 

The fire is at the rear of the residence and into the roofline.

Stafford fire and Town of Batavia fire dispatched.

Bergen, Byron, South Byron, and City of Batavia Fast Team also dispatched.

UPDATE(S) (By Billie) 9:03 a.m.: Flames seen in rear of structure according to callers to dispatch. Stafford's second alarm called. 

UPDATE 9:05 a.m.: Command on scene reports smoke showing from eaves, but no flames, of a single-story ranch house that's close to the road. Le Roy is called to Stafford's fire hall.

UPDATE 9:06 a.m.: Mercy medics are called to respond because of "slight smoke inhalation" by the homeowner.

UPDATE 9:08 a.m.: Elba is asked to fill in at Byron's fire hall.

UPDATE 9:09 a.m.: National Grid is called to the scene.

UPDATE 9:14 a.m.: Stafford command reports fire knocked down; checking for extensions. Stafford Fire Police are called in for traffic control.

UPDATE 9:17 a.m.: Le Roy, standing by in Stafford's quarters, is called to the scene. Oakfield is asked to stand by in Town of Batavia fire's station #1; Pavilion is called to Stafford's hall. The homeowner signed off, declining medical treatment.

UPDATE 9:34 a.m.: Caledonia, which was standing by in quarters, is moved to Le Roy's fire hall.

UPDATE 11:15 a.m.: The fire appears to have started in the kitchen. The homeowner believes a space heater was plugged in and in use at the site where the fire broke out, but it remains unknown if that is indeed what started the fire, according to scene commander Mark Dougherty, 4th assistant chief of Le Roy Fire Department. The house is heavily damaged, but it is unknown at this point if it's considered to be a total loss. Two cats lived there and one of them perished in the blaze; the other is missing. Fire in a roof is reported at 20 Liberty St. in the city.

City fire is on scene and a first platoon is called to the station.

UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Town of Batavia Fire Department is asked to provide mutual aid. The location is a welding business between Liberty and Center streets -- Strong Forge and Fabrication.

UPDATE 1:48 p.m.: Checking for extensions; doing overhaul. Town of Batavia told to go back in service.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: Employees are told to stay out of the building for now.

A car fire has apparently started a house fire at 3625 Telephone Road, Alexander.

Alexander fire dispatched along with Town of Batavia.

UPDATE 10:58 p.m.: The structure is NOT on fire. An ATV was on fire. It was moved away from the house. Town of Batavia can stand down.

There is smoke reportedly coming from a wall both inside and outside at 6280 Clinton Street Road, Bergen.

Bergen fire, along with Stafford and South Byron dispatched.

UPDATE 3:32 p.m.: The fire was apparently contained within a wall. It appears to be out. Checking for extension.

A garage fire is reported at 64 Union St., Batavia.

When City fire arrived on scene, the commander reported smoke showing.

It's a detached garage.

The third platoon is requested to fire headquarters.

UPDATE 1:19 a.m.: Fire is under control. Starting overhaul.

The patient burned in an early morning fire today at 9536 Bernd Road, Le Roy, is 64-year-old Elizabeth J. Reisdorf.

She suffered burns to her hands, face and upper body and was initially taken to UMMC, then subsequently transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

This evening, she was listed in guarded condition. At Strong, guarded condition means a patient is in the Intensive Care Unit.

The preliminary investigation of the fire, which started in the bedroom, indicates it was accidental, caused by smoking in bed, according to Jim Bouton, an Emergency Management coordinator for Genesee County.

A house at 9536 Bernd Road, Le Roy, is reportedly "full of smoke." The location is south of Cole Road.

UPDATE 6:05 a.m.: A chief on scene reports smoke coming from rear window.

UPDATE(S) (By Billie) 6:15 a.m.: The city's first platoon is called to headquarters. Pavilion is also called to respond. Le Roy ambulance is on scene and a Mercy medic unit is en route.

UPDATE 6:18 a.m.: "Knocked down pretty good; checking for extensions," says command.

UPDATE 6:33 a.m.: Code enforcement is called to the scene. The auxiliary is called to bring refreshments. National Grid is contacted.

UPDATE 6:37 a.m.: Caledonia Fire Department is asked to fill in at Le Roy's fire station.

UPDATE 6:50 a.m.: A female occupant suffered burns and was transported to UMMC for treatment. The fire appears to have started in the bedroom, according to the chief on scene. The fire is under investigation.

A caller reported heavy black smoke in the area of Dillon and Perry roads, Pavilion, and one firefighter responding reported hearing explosions.

A fire chief has located two old campers on fire in the woods.

Pavilion fire is responding.

A chief on scene is requesting contact with law enforcement, either in person or by phone.

A car fire is reported near the railroad tracks on Snipery Road, Corfu.

An initial report said a train was coming and there was a request to contact the train company.

The car is fully involved.

Law enforcement requested to the scene.

An ambulance requested to the scene. A person may have some burns.

UPDATE 5:06 p.m.: According to a trooper and a firefighter at the scene, a woman set her own Jeep on fire about 35 yards from the railroad tracks. A train passed by but there was no hazard posed to it since the burning vehicle was far enough away. The woman had soot on her and may have inhaled smoke; it is unknown if she suffered burns. She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

A caller reports seeing and hearing a transformer explode in the area of Maple Street and Ganson Avenue, Batavia.

City fire responding.

A possible fire is reported at 18 Genesee St., Apt. 5 E, in the Le Roy Meadows Apartments. Smoke is reported in the building. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding along with the city ladder unit.

Caledonia Fire Department is on standby. Everyone is out of the structure, but firefighters on scene are unable to make entry and request a second alarm.

Bergen and Pavilion are called along with a fast team out of Mumford. Stafford to fill in at Le Roy station.

UPDATE 4:43 a.m.: The second alarm is canceled. Fire is extinguished, per command. Ventilating structure.

A structure fire is reported at 4325 Ridge Road in Elba. The initial call was for the smell of something burning inside the residence. The location is between Fisher and Quaker Hill roads. Elba Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. A person at the scene is said to have trouble breathing.

A large amount of debris is reportedly burning on the lawn at 3816 Pearl Street Road, Batavia. The fire was called in by a neighbor. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding.

The location is between Treadeasy Avenue and Donahue Road.

A statewide burn ban has been in effect since March 16 and it ends May 14.

An outbuilding, with a car nearby, is reported on fire at 6478 Freeman Road, Byron.

Byron fire, South Byron fire, and Stafford fire dispatched.

The vehicle has caught fire. 

UPDATE 3:22 p.m.: A second alarm is requested. Mercy EMS for firefighter support also requested.

Bonfires are reported in the backyards of homes on Wood Street and Manhattan Avenue, City of Batavia.

City fire and Batavia PD have been dispatched to both locations.

UPDATE 8:51 p.m.: At the Wood Street location, the occupants are smoking brisket. The City fire assignment to that location is back in service.

UPDATE 8:54 p.m.: A scene commander tells dispatch there's no need for law enforcement at the Manhattan Avenue location.

A resident is reportedly burning leaves and the fire is blowing toward a field, according to a caller.

Bergen fire was dispatched to a "burn-ban violation." 

Open burning is prohibited in New York until May 14.

UPDATE 2:04 p.m.: A Bergen chief reports no fire. Bergen assignment back in service.

City fire and law enforcement has been dispatched to Oak Street and Allen Street for a report of somebody burning leaves.

UPDATE 12:51 p.m.: Engine 11 responding non-emergency.

UPDATE 1:02 p.m.: Fire is out. Engine 11 back in service. The homeowner was advised.

A one-acre brush fire is reported in the area of 7958 Townline Road, Bergen. Bergen Fire Department is responding along with a brush truck from Byron.

A possible furnace problem is causing a house to fill with smoke at 5238 E. Main Street Road, Batavia. The location is at the eastern corner of the intersection with Broadlawn Avenue. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 12:44 p.m.: The fire department is on scene and reports nothing showing; investigating.

UPDATE 12:46 p.m.: Command reports other units can continue in non-emergency mode. The furnace was recently filled with fuel. No fire; ventilating structure now.
