LeRoy ~ Theresa D. Butera, age 95, passed away into the open arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 12, 2015, while in the loving presence of  her family at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

    

 Miss Butera was born May 29, 1920 in Pittston, PA, a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Palumbo Butera.

     She spent and devoted her entire life to the Roman Catholic Church.  She began her secretarial career at St. Joseph's Church in LeRoy under Fr. Stanly Ormsby.  She eventually, along with then, Msgr. Ormsby, relocated to Niagara Falls, N.Y., where they were both instrumental in establishing Our Lady of the Rosary Church.  She remained there until her retirement as secretary and personal aide to Msgr. Ormsby, having amassed over 60 years of dedicated service to the Catholic Faith.

     Miss Butera is survived by her loving sister, Rita O'Connor of LeRoy; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Peter, Catal, Ignatius and Frank Butera, all of Pittston, PA; Mary (Louis) Frank, Leona (John) Mancuso, both of LeRoy, Charles (Meta) Butera of Livonia, and a brother-in-law, Thomas O'Connor of LeRoy.

     Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 ~ 8 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19).  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at Our Lady of  Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory, 27 Lake Street, LeRoy.  Interment will immediately follow in St. Francis Cemetery.

Lillian Rorick, 89 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday September 11, 2015 at her home under Homecare & Hospice. She was born on January 2, 1926 in Springboro, PA, to the late Martin (Louise Gunser) Bilich. She is preceded in death her brothers Rudolph, Richard and William Bilich and Sisters Hilda Ryder and Irma Leffke.

Lillian worked for the Crown & Anchor Restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY for many years and she retired from the City of Batavia School System where she worked in food service for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, walking and shopping but what meant most to her was her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Edward Rorick of Batavia; children Paula (Harry) Wortzman of Batavia, David (Jenni) Rorick of Minnesota, Brother Carl Bilich of PA, and brother in law Robert Leffke of Batavia. 9 Grandchildren Alysia (David) Thibault, Ashley Yunke, Jamie Wortzman, LeAnna (Daniel) DiRisio, Stefan and Andrew Rorick, Eric (Darlene) Meidenbauer, Robert (Cindy) Meidenbauer, Lori Eady; 10 great-grandchildren Leo and Ryan Thibault, Vincent and Luciana DiRisio, Cara, William and Kassidy Meidenbauer, Randi Ellen, Rebekah and Nikita Eady, along with several nieces and nephews.

Susan Ruth Andrews, 58 of Attica, NY. Returned to God after a short but valiant battle passed at Roswell Park Cancer Institute with her family present. She was born on June 12, 1957 in Lackawana, NY to Robert W. McKeever Sr. and predeceaced by her mother Viola D. McKeever. Sue was survived by her devoted husband Jay W. Andrews and her dear children Jay W. Andrews and Bonnie S. Vickery. Sue was a cherished sister to her brother Robert W. McKeever II, and sisters Gwynne (Mike) Tomb and Roberta (Duane) Wendover. Sue was a proud granny to her 5 adoring grandchildren Lucas, Thomas, Alyssa, Payton and Bella. She was a caring daughter-in-law to Grace M. Cycon. Sue had a large loving family with many surviving family members including her aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sue graduated from Hamburg High in 1975 and worked 28 years for the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, holding the position of secretary to the Sheriff. When Sue wasn't working she would most often be found enjoying the company of her dear husband of 39 years, camping and motorcycle riding. Sue was also an avid reader and was passionate about cooking, baking, knitting and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Monday, September 14th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC 135 Main Street, Attica New York 14011. A 10:00 AM Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 3 Prospect Street Attica, New York 14011.  She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery. Michael D. Swann, 38, of Perry passed away on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at his home.  He was born on August 10, 1977 in Rochester and was raised and fathered by Calvin and the Late Gwen (Swann) Nelson. 

Mike owned and operated Smooth Movers, a moving business in Perry.  He enjoyed music, writing poetry and was an avid artist, drawing with both ink and pencil.  He was also an avid collector of Jordan sneakers.

He is survived by his loving wife Stephanie (Calmes) Swann of Perry; two sons Michael II and Xavier Swann of Perry; brothers Doug (Chrissy Aubert) Nelson of Perry and Miles Nelson also of Perry; mother and father in law Colleen and Timothy Calmes of Perry, Melanie (Kevin) Long of Clay, NY and brother in law Justin (Yasmeen) Calmes of Batavia; Aunt Aletta “Bobbie” Keplinger-Rodriguez of Florida, as well as TJ & Electra Johnson and Paul & Sally Nelson; Great Aunt Ruthe (Siebert) Douglas of Rochester, Cousin Amber Swann of Corning; his niece Tiona Nelson and nephews Timothy Long, Keagan and Oscar Calmes.

Joseph H. Seweryniak, 76 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (September 8, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center.

He was born June 17, 1939, in Batavia, son of the late John and Minnie Przysbyz Seweryniak.

He was a graduate of Corfu High School, having been the first in his family to reach this achievement. Joe was an engineer/CADCAM programmer at Kodak in Rochester prior to his retirement. He started his career as a general machinist for the former Trojan Industries of Batavia and this would lead him to design and develop special machines, dies, jigs and fixtures for 25 years and receive several awards of recognition for his outstanding designing and drawing of tools and fixtures. He was a proud member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and received the certification of NYS Journeyman Tool and Die Maker.

Known to many as “Joe of all trades”, he was a carpenter, craftsman and “Mr. Fix it”. Joe enjoyed dancing, polka music, spoke fluent Polish, loved mowing his lawn, planting trees and chopping wood, being outside and enjoying all that mother nature had to offer. He was also a proud member of SCOPE, NRA and parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in East Pembroke.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Kathryn Wityk Seweryniak of Batavia. Children, Randy (Gwen) Seweryniak of Darien, Janice Seweryniak of Oakfield, Laurie (Dan) Kearney of Corfu, Joseph A. Seweryniak of New Mexico and Patricia (Brad) Moore of Arcade. Grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Ognibene, Olivia, Melissa and Randy Seweryniak, Samantha (Ryan) MacDonald, Jennifer (Jon) Flannery, Kristine Ognibene, Katie and Tracy Kearney, Garrett and Jacob Moore. Great-grandchildren, Ryan and Andrew MacDonald and Max Flannery. Sister, Ann Rumfola of LeRoy. Brothers, Raymond (Teresa) Seweryniak of Batavia and Leo (Vi) Seweryniak of Corfu. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was the father of the late Carolyn Ognibene. Grandfather of the late Stephanie and Timothy Ognibene and brother of the late Chester Seweryniak, Mary Soban, Irene Smart and Edward Seweryniak.

Oakfield - Lillian R. Stahl, 91, of Oakfield, passed away Wednesday, (September 9, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Stahl was born December 4, 1923 in Akron, a daughter of the late Stanley and Nellie (Gurniak) Zabicki.

Lil attended St. Padre Pio Parish - St. Cecelia's Worship Site for many years and loved cooking and spending time with her family.

She is the wife of the late Willis Stahl who passed away in 1984.

Surviving are her children, Donald (Jodi) Stahl, Sr., and Linda (late Bob) Kleiber both of Oakfield; grandchildren, Travis Kleiber of Oakfield, Luke (Joy) Stahl of Buffalo, Becky Stahl of Oakfield, and Don (Katie) Stahl, Jr. of Batavia; 5 great-granddaughters and a sister, Rena (late Sal) Curella of Amherst.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Lillian is preceded in death by her siblings, Charlotte Zabicki, Wanda (late Sal) Vigiano, Natalie (late Nicholas) Riso, Rosalie (late Anthony) Tibollo, Frank (late Elizabeth) Zabicki, Frances (late Max) Manhold, and Belle (late Anthony) Graziplene.

Florence A. (VanCise) McBride, age 98, of Perry, died on Friday September 4, 2015 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw where she had been residing. Florence was born on April 3, 1917 a daughter of the late Daniel and Adelaide (Smith) Bassett VanCise. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Milo McBride who died in 1995; grandson Gregory Wolcott who died in 1995; 2 brothers Charles Bassett, Earl VanCise and sons-in-law Edward (Ted) Potts and John Wolcott.

Florence was a graduate of Castile High School. She worked at the former Ayers Drug Store in Perry and for many years was a saleswoman for Watkins Products. She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry where she was active in many church including the church choir, a former deacon and elder. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Perry Chapter and Livingston County Chapter where she was a former treasurer for the Perry Chapter and New York State officer: Past Associate Grand Warder, and Daughters of the American Revolution, Wyoming County Chapter. She enjoyed knitting, golfing, bowling, playing bridge and the organ.

She is survived by daughters Lois Potts of Williamsville, Bette Jean Wolcott of Perry; son Robert (Nancie) McBride of Ithaca; 7 grandchildren Thomas Potts (the late Michele Potts), Janet (Monty) Shatney, Andrew (Teena) Potts, Randy (Ellen) Jordon, Jeff (Debra) Jordan, Todd McBride and Kellie (Scott) Milhollen; 10 great grandchildren Elizabeth and William Shatley, Zachery and Jodi Potts, Desiree, Tyler and Travis Jordon, Morgan, Autumn and Noelle Milhollen; 4 great-great- grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Batavia – Mrs. Mafalda M. Calarco, 91, of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

She was born November 19, 1923 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Victoria Spina Tessitore.

A 1941 Batavia High School graduate, she was a member of St. Mary's Church, member of the former Sertoma Club of Batavia, the Mother's Club at St. Mary's Church. She loved baking and cooking and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Frank J Calarco, Sr., passed away on August 23, 1987.

Surviving are her children, Anthony (Judy) Calarco, Sr. and Mary (James) Smith, both of Batavia and Nicholas (Marcia) Calarco of Oakfield; her son-in-law, Ronald Moscicki of Batavia; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Peter Rossi of LeRoy and Donald Ball of Washington, D.C. along with several nieces and nephews.

She is the mother of the late Frank J. Calarco, Jr. who passed away on May 3, 1974 and Victoria "Vicki" Moscicki, who passed away on August 13, 2015 and sister of the late Joseph Tessitore, Cecilia Ball, Rose Pellegrino, Helen Pellegrino, Angeline Falcone, Clara Rossi and Jennie LaFarnara.

LeRoy/ Batavia - Virginia S. Niebch - Clark, 96, of LeRoy, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Ann's Home, in Rochester.

Mrs. Clark was born October 25, 1918 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Fred and Lulu (Sweet) Sloat.

She is predeceased by her husband, Wayne C. Niebch, and William Clark, Sr.

Survivors include a son, Wayne (Mary) Niebch of CO; a daughter, Marcia Niebch of Rochester; a brother: Fred Sloat 3 grandchildren, Kimberly (Fred) Amey, Kathryn Niebch and Ryan Niebch; a great-grandson, Jacob Amey and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  

She was the sister of the late of the late Warren "Bus" Sloat and Geraldine Long.

Elba -

William M. Hynes, age 77, of Elba, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Hynes was born August 27, 1938 in Batavia, the son of the late William and Doris Watts Hynes.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School and Rochester Business Institute, Bill was a member of Padre Pio Parish – Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site and he was a First Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in LeRoy. He also served on the Elba Town Board for seven years.

Bill dedicated his life to the fire service in Genesee County. He served with the LeRoy Volunteer Fire Department from 1961-1968. From there he served with the Town of Batavia Fire Department from 1968-1980 serving as chief in 1978 and 1979. He is a current member of the Town of Elba Fire Department, joining in 1980 and served as chief from 1990-2003. He served as president of the board of directors of the Elba Fire Department from 2004-2013. He was also a life member of the Western New York Fireman’s Association and the New York State Fire Chief’s Association. Bill served on the Genesee County Mutual Aid Advisory Board, where he served as chairman for two years.

Bill received numerous accolades from local assemblymen, town officials, village officials and senators for his many years of dedicated service to the fire community. January 25, 2003,  was declared “Bill Hynes Day” in Elba.

Known for his quick wit and humor, those who knew him will remember his classic one-liners.

He is predeceased by his wife, Rita Reiner Hynes who passed away in 1996 and his son, Michael Edward Hynes who passed away in 1976. 

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Gould) Hynes, whom he married January 30, 2004; two daughters, Sandi (Tom) Boryczka  and  Beth Hynes, both  of Elba; his step-son, Kevin Finucane of Bergen and four grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer, Emily and Austin.

Friends may call on Friday, September 11^th, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, where his fireman’s service will be held at 7 p.m. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12^th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Father Thaddeus Bocianowski, rector of Padre Pio Parish will celebrate Bill’s Mass. He will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.

JUDITH F. (GREENMAN) DELLAPENTA

   Age 68, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday September 3, 2015 at the Leo Center for Caring in Irondequoit. Judy was born in N. Tonawanda, NY on January 14, 1947, to the late Willard and Pearl (Russell) Platter, also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dellapenta in 2013 and her brother, James Platter.

   Mrs. Dellapenta was very active in the area, having been an EMT with the Crittenden Fire Co., chairman of the Genesee County Fair Parade and a member of the Fair Queen Board. Judy worked for many years as a nurse aid at the former St. Jerome's Hospital while holding true to the promise she made to herself many years ago, and in 1997 she achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, at the age of 50 she became an LPN. Following her retirement she travelled cross country and continued her pastime and love of collecting Santa's, she was also a member of the "Red Hatters" in Florida where she had settled for a time.

   Surviving are her loving children, Christine (Michael) Heatherman, Jr. of OH and their children, Jessica and Amanda; Cynthia (Gordon Smith) Perez of Batavia; Kevin (Sandra) Gerrish of FL and their children, Kelsey, Quinn Gerrish and Drew Peczerwinski; brother, William Platter of FL, twin brother, Jack (Michelle) Platter of Wilson, NY and sister, Susan (Robert) Gregg of N. Tonawanda; sister-in-law, Carol Platter of Amherst along with many nieces and nephews.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

   The family will be present from 4-8 p.m. on Friday September 11, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. John Rembas, 99, of Attica NY passed away on September 5^th, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home, Batavia NY surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1916 in Buffalo NY, the son of the late Ignatius and Josephine (Bialas) Rembas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Clara (Klein) Rembas.

John retired from Westinghouse Corporation where he worked for 30 years. A part time farmer, he enjoyed farming the land in East Bethany NY, hunting and fishing. After retiring he and Clara moved to Attica where they continued to lead busy lives spent traveling, playing cards and sharing their love of life with family and friends. One of the greatest joys of both their lives were their many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John was known to be small in stature but big of heart. He was a loving husband and wonderful father. John enjoyed good health most of his life and continued to hunt and fish well into his later years. He was also known to have a “sweet tooth” and a competitive spirit.

He is survived by his four children, Robert Rembas of East Aurora NY, Shirley Nichols of Attica NY, Mary Ann (Bruce) Kirchoff of Rochester NY, Annette (Rick) Morrison of Alexander NY; eleven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; a loving sister Helene Zaremski of Alexander NY. He was the father of late twin sons, James and John Rembas and the brother of the late Joseph and Chester Rembas, Jennie Spring and Jean Reiter.

Rochester – Mrs. Mary Hehn, age 99, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home, where she had resided the past 10 years.

Mrs. Hehn was born February 29, 1916 in Rochester, a daughter of the late John Sr. and Anna Boyko Zastrocky. 

Her husband, Harold G. Hehn, passed away in 1965.

She is survived by her brother, John (Claire) Zastrocky, Jr. of Churchville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Stella Maddock, Michael Zastrocky and Katherine Snyder.

There are no prior visiting hours. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Rebecca A. “Becky” Watson, 42, of Batavia, a Licensed Practical Nurse at United Memorial Medical Center, died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Watson was born April 3, 1973 in Batavia, the daughter of Danny M. and Sandy J. (Bates) Snell, both of Batavia.

She enjoyed karaoke.

Surviving along with her parents is her husband, Eric M. Watson, whom she married March 14, 1998, her daughter, Melissa Watson of Batavia, her brother, Danny Snell Jr. known as "Little Brother" of Batavia, a sister-in-law, Sherry Watson of Bergen and many aunts, uncles and friends.
