Linda L. Clark

Linda L. Clark, 68 of East Bethany, passed away on Saturday (July 8, 2017) at her residence under the loving care of her family and hospice.

She was born September 26, 1948 in Watertown, NY, a daughter of the late Robert and Betty Beuttner Gibbs.

Mrs. Clark was a Registered Nurse for the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia and a maternity nurse at Wyoming County Community Hospital prior to her retirement. She was an active participant in the Batavia Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Clark enjoyed gardening around her home and caring for her horses and will be greatly missed by all who knew her caring heart.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, T. John Clark of East Bethany. Son, Richard (Laurie) Clark of Fulton, NY. Two grandchildren, Joshua and Brianna Clark. Sisters, Christine Zimmerman of Ogdensburg, NY and Sarah Lynch of Fort Drum, NY. Brothers, Randy Gibbs of Rhinebeck, NY and Craig Gibbs of Alexandria Bay, NY. Half Sisters, Rachael Riordan of Adams Center, NY and Jennifer Rozell of Roswell, Georgia. Half Brother, David Gibbs of Theresa, NY. Also survived by step brothers, step sisters, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Gibbs.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Saturday (July 15th) from 10am-12pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, NY. A funeral service will commence at the conclusion of visitation at 12pm. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Betty Peters

Stafford - Betty Peters, 92, of Stafford, passed away Saturday, (July 8, 2017) at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Batavia.

Mrs. Peters was born August 18, 1924 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Killian) Hahn.

She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Batavia.

Betty was the wife of the late Donald Peters.  He passed away in 2012.

Surviving is her daughter, Darleene (Temple Lewis) Peters of East Bethany; a sister, Wanda (Chester) Nicholson of CA; nephews, Paul (Janet) Demko of LeRoy, and David Demko of Batavia.  Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Betty is preceded in death by a brother, Vaughn Hahn and a sister, Helen Demko.

There will be no visitation.  Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteers For Animals, P.O. Box 1621, Batavia, NY 14021.  Burial will be in Stafford Rural Cemetery, Stafford.

Rena C. Wagner

Batavia - Rena C. Wagner, 90, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the New York State Veteran's Home.

Mrs. Wagner was born December 17, 1926 in Asiago, Italy, a daughter of the late Peter and Battastina Dalle Ave Costa.

A member of St. Joseph's Church, she enjoyed gardening and word puzzles.

Her husband, Robert E. Wagner, passed away on November 4, 1996.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Keith) Monteleone of New Jersey, Mary (Stephen) Smith of Batavia, Kathleen (John) Suttell of Oakfield and Patricia (Charles) Zambito of Elba; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her brother, Victor (Jean) Costa of LeRoy; her sister, Mary Regeone of Virginia; her brother-in-law, Robert Lapp of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her brother, Christy Costa, her sister, Dolores Lapp and her brothers-in-law, Squire (Ruth) Wagner and Paul Wagner.

There are no prior visiting hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia.  Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Frederick R. Walsh

 Frederick R. Walsh (Fred, Bob, Fred-Bob), 83, of Batavia passed away July 2, 2017 at Premier Genesee Nursing Facility after a short illness.  He was born February 26, 1934 in Auburn, New York to the late Frederick and Philomeana (Rafferty) Walsh

Mr. Walsh is preceded in death by an infant son Sean Walsh; son Donald Hibsch; son-in-law Paul Donnelly; brother-in-law Jack Spencer; sisters Judith Merrill and Bonita Glosson.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Attica High School where he joined the newly created wrestling team, and was a member of the glee club. Bob attended Alfred College for a short time before joining the United States Air Force on February 4, 1953. Fred was an airplane mechanic, achieving the rank of Airman First Class before his honorable discharge on June 19, 1956.

Mr. Walsh joined the NY State Police on April 2, 1962 and was a graduate of the Seventy-Third Session of the New York State Police Academy. He spent the next 22 years as a State Trooper till retiring on April 26, 1984. Fred worked for ARAL Security in Buffalo, NY as Court Security Guard for 17 years before retiring on June 15, 2001.

Bob loved spending time with his childhood sweetheart, Marge, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, singing, reciting limericks, poetry, bird watching, and watching the news and sports on TV, especially the Yankees. Bob’s humor, quick wit and smiles will be greatly missed by all who knew him. **143**

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Margaret (Dunham), children Cathy (Carm) Carmestro, Connie Donnelly, Robin Watts (Walt Murray), Jeffrey (Sherry) Walsh, Timothy (Beth) Walsh, Ronald (Nancy) Hibsch, John (Nancy) Hibsch, Edward (Laurie) Hibsch, Paul (Christy) Hibsch; daughter-in-law Lynette Hibsch; siblings Marilyn Spencer, Patricia (Mark) Schweikhard; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Tillman Richard Meney

Irondequoit - Tillman Richard Meney, 82, of Irondequoit, formerly of Oakfield, an employee of the Town of Irondequoit Highway Dept., died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.

Mr. Meney was born May 11, 1935 in Culpepper, VA, a son of the late William and Claudine (Richards) Meney.

He graduated from Oakfield Alabama High School and attended Brown Preparatory School in Philadelphia before enrolling in Alfred State College in 1956.  He received a Diploma in Business from Rochester Business Institute and while working at Eastman Kodak Co., attended Rochester Institute of Technology. 

He served in the US Army Reserve from 1956 to 1966 and formerly attended both the Oakfield United Methodist Church and the Batavia 1st Baptist Church.  He was an avid reader and chess player.  He started playing chess at the age of 27 and trained under the late Dr. Eric Marchand.  Both Mr. Meney and Dr. Marchand were members of the Rochester Chess Club.  Mr. Meney was honored to play in a tournament in Dr. Marchand's name.   Mr. Meney was very active in playing chess and competed in several tournaments both inside and outside the state.  He played in the US Open in Wichita, KS, South Carolina and in Chicago.

He worked first at the VAMC in Batavia, then at Eastman Kodak Co. where her retired after 23 years. He then went to work for the Irondequoit Highway Department and worked for an additional 10 years.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Meney and, Scott (Julie) Meney all of Rochester, and Clay (Linda) Meney of Brockport; a daughter, Lisa Meney of Rochester; a sister, Constance Meney Alexander of Batavia; a goddaughter, Jaini Robinson of Rochester; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. 

He was the brother of the late Raymond Meney, William Meney and Claudia Virginia Meney.

Shirley Millicent McLaughlin

Shirley Millicent McLaughlin, age 89, of Perry, New York, passed away on Monday July 3, 2017 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Shirley was born in Warsaw, New York on January 23, 1928 a daughter to the late Arthur E. and Bernice (Soper) Beardsley. She is preceded in death by her husband: Robert “Frog” McLaughlin who passed in 1985, daughter-in-law: Karen (Martz) McLaughlin who passed away in 1997, brothers: Clarence (Norma) Beardsley, Ralph Beardsley, Arthur (Ruth) Shiltz-Beardsley, brothers-in-law: Charles Stuart, Hugh (Mildred Pierson) McLaughlin and sister-in-law: Marion Bailey Beardsley.

She worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill and was a self employed wallpaper hanger, wall papering in homes throughout Wyoming and Livingston Counties. She was a graduate of Perry Central School class of 1946, a 50 year charter member of the Perry Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and honorary fireman, and was the oldest living cancer survivor in Wyoming County. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, going on rides and out to dinner. She loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed visits with friends and family.

She is survived by her 2 children: Laurie Bark and Thomas (Karen) McLaughlin both of Perry, sister: Marilyn Stuart of East Avon, brother: Warren (Mardene) Beardsley of Penfield, sister-in-law: Betty Beardsley of Zephyr Hills, Fl., 5 grandchildren: Kyle (Kelly) McLaughlin, Daryl (Sarah) McLaughlin, Sarah (Jesse) Wolcott all of Perry, Rachel (Bill Seymour)Bark of York, PA., and Patrick Bark of Rochester, 2 step-grandchildren: Melissa (Greg) Becker of Buffalo, Jenny (Jeremy Burdick) Cygan of Pike, 8 great grandchildren: Emma, Jess, Avery, Dominik and Alexander McLaughlin, Madalynn and Shelby Wolcott and Joey Seymour 4 step great grandchildren: Joslyn McMurtry, Jayden Burdick, Katelyn and Liam Becker, 2 best friends: Eleanor Chaffee of Ft. Pierce, Fl., Laura Holderer of Perry, along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and tons of people who called her “Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma over the years.

Rose Ianni

Rose Ianni, 85 of Oakfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 4, 2017 at her son’s home. She was born May 21, 1932 in East Bethany, to the late John (Natalina) Cervoni. Mrs. Ianni is preceded in death by husband Carlo Ianni (1969); brother John Cervoni and sister Christina Orlando.

Rose was a longtime member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Oakfield. She loved spending time with her in-laws Angie, Mary and Benny. Family was everything to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Joseph (Elizabeth) Ianni of Oakfield; Cathryn (Thomas) Scott of LeRoy; siblings Al Cervoni of AZ; Vincent (Janice) Cervoni of Batavia; Dorothy (Earl) Schlaggel of Batavia; Annie (Chuck) Bordinaro of Oakfield; Yolanda McGowan of Batavia; Nicolina Maniace of Batavia; grandchildren Thomas (Jennifer) Scott, Carly (Casey) Luttrell, Mandy (Michael) Scott, JoAnna Ianni, great-grandchildren Mikalina Scott, Chase Luttrell, Carmelina Scott, Chloe Luttrell; along with many nieces and nephews.

Albert E. Burfeindt

Byron - Albert E. Burfeindt, 80, of Byron, passed away on Friday (June 30, 2017) at Unity Hospital in Rochester.

Albert was born March 5, 1937 in Bergen, NJ, a son of the late Albert J. and Beulah (Ellis) Burfeindt.

A veteran, he served with the Air National Guard and was a designer draftsman at Xerox in Rochester.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Schelemanow of Batavia and Bonnie (John) McElver of Roxboro, NC and four grandchildren.  

Albert is the husband of the late Margarite R. Burfeindt.

TIMOTHY D. PEHRSON

TIMOTHY D. PEHRSON ~ Batavia

Died peacefully Sunday afternoon July 2, 2017 at United Memorial Medical Center at the age of 58. He was born June 26, 1959 in Mankato, MN a son of Donald and Audrey (Olson) Pehrson of Batavia also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Pehrson.                                                                                                                         

Tim was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and The "Ooch" Family camping group that was formed many years ago. He enjoyed movies, animals and was somewhat of a "Foodie" in that he loved to eat! A big man with an even bigger heart which he shared with everyone he knew and most of all with his family. His love of family showed thru when he was seen at his nieces and nephews sporting events constantly cheering them on and by the wonderful father he was to his son, Josh.

Surviving along with parents are his beloved son, Joshua (Heather Jensen) Pehrson of Batavia; loving brothers and sisters, Deborah (Anders) Hagelin of Idaho, Daniel (Laura) Pehrson of Texas, Cynthia (John) Canale of Batavia, Barbara (Charlie) Pangrazio of Elba, Christine (Erik) Saluste of Batavia and sister-in-law, Deirdre Pehrson of Batavia; nieces and nephews, David & Michael Pehrson, Lauren (Bradley) Hayes, Rebecca & Nathan Canale, Chelsie, Marissa, Spencer & Jacob Pangrazio, Amber Pehrson, Corinne Saluste, Lidia and Dylan Pehrson along with great nieces and nephews, Jayd & Kaylee Bodin, Hudson Hayes and Ky'Reese. 

The Pehrson family will be present from 4-8pm Friday July 7, 2017 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020, Tim's funeral services will take place 10am Saturday July 8 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 31 Washington Ave. Batavia; memorials in his memory are suggested to the family.

Dorothy M. Hertz

Batavia - Dorothy M. Hertz, 93, of Batavia, formerly of Oakfield, a Registered Nurse at Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia prior to her retirement in 1989, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Batavia.

Mrs. Hertz was born November 11, 1923 in Hastings, PA, a daughter of the late Guy and Carmella (Ilaria) Fredo.

She was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecelia’s worship site and member of the I.A.R.P.

Her husband, John Hertz, died on June 16, 1998.

Survivors include her 3 children, Denise (Joseph) Marcello of Hattiesburg, MS, John A. Hertz of Bergen and Diane Williams of Oakfield; a brother, William (Lecy) Fredo of CA; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.  

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave, Oakfield.  Her Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Worship Site, 56 Maple Ave, Oakfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Cecelia’s Development Fund or for Masses in Mrs. Hertz' name.  Burial will be in St. Cecelia's Cemetery in Oakfield.

Joseph M. Fragnito

Joseph M. Fragnito, 63, of Batavia passed away on Thursday June 29, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochetser. He was born in Batavia on September 2, 1953 to the late Mario Fragnito and Josephine (Recchio) of Batavia. In addition to his father, Joe is predeceased by his sister Marie Fragnito and his nephew Richie Funke.

Joe was everyone’s favorite bartender and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandson Luke. His favorite meal was Sunday sauce. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was loved by all and will be very missed.

In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his loving wife; Patricia A. (Palermo) Fragnito of Batavia; daughter Jamie M. (Eric) Peskor of Rochester; mother and father-in-law Patsy (Virginia Gringer) Palermo of Batavia; sister Patricia (Richard) Funke of Rochester; brothers-in-law James (Nancy) Palermo of Batavia and Ricky Palermo of Batavia; 1 grandson Luke M. Peskor along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Violet J. Englert

Violet J. Englert, age 88, of Geneseo formerly of Leicester, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 29, 2017 at the Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry surrounded by her loving family. Violet was born in the Town of Groveland, New York on June 5, 1929 a daughter to the late Leonard and Sarah (Potter) Young.

She volunteered at Family Planning on the Livingston County Campus, worked for the Geneseo High School in their food service program, Livingston County Co-operative Extension as a nutrition aide, a substitute teacher for Livingston County BOCES in Geneseo and retired from there as a teachers aide in the Special Learning Center. Violet enjoyed reading, listening to music and especially enjoyed times spent with family.

She is survived by her 7 children: Fred (Cheryl) Englert of Wayland, Tim (Susan) Englert of Livonia, Chris (Alyson) Englert of Perry, Melinda Englert of Lockport, Doug (Paulette) Englert of N. Chili, Marvin( Jackie) Englert of Leicester and Andy (Michelle) Englert of Leicester, 20 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Joan Katherine Fitch

Joan Katherine Fitch, 84, of Perry passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26th surrounded by her children at her home on Silver Lake. She was born in Carthage, NY on April 20, 1933 to John and Katherine (Murphy) Stoffel.  Joan was one of thirteen children and worked the family farm as a young girl. Her strong work ethic and compassion for others were traits that inspired her entire family. Joan is predeceased by her husband George A. Fitch and daughter Heather M. Fitch.

Joan received her Nursing degree from A. Barton Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing in Ogdensburg NY in 1953 and worked in hospitals in northern, eastern and western NY. She was oftenrecognized for her excellence in nursing, and particularly the deep, sincere care she demonstrated with her patients. Joan was active in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Perry, NY until 1993 when she and George retired from farming and moved to the Gulf Coast in Alabama. She was active in her Church in Lillian, Alabama, loved going to the beach, baking, crocheting, reading and movies. Soon after George’s death in 2013 Joan moved back to Perry to be with her family.

Joan was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her children; Jeff (Nancy) Fitch of Perry, Mike (Robin) Fitch of Warsaw, Beth Fitch and Berna Ticonchuk of Naples and James (Lorna) Fitch of Perry; eight grandchildren, Karissa (Shaun) Jackson, Emilee (Steve) Mitchell, Ian Fitch, Jennifer (Tim) Bramer, Jillian Fitch, James (Jennifer) Fitch, Justine Fitch, Matthew Fitch and 3 great grandchildren, Wesley and Violet Jackson and Rowan Bramer. Joan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

An 11:00 am Memorial Mass will be celebrated on September 1, 2017 at St. Isidore’s Parish, 8 Park St. Perry, NY 14530. A graveside commital to follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery on Walker Rd. The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), HomeCare and Hospice for making it possible for Joan to spend her final days at her home on Silver Lake.

Our mom loved us each and every day and we couldn’t be more blessed than to have had her with us for so many years. We thank God for it and are proud to call her our mom.

Bergen - Bailey Jo Heinzerling, 27, of Bergen, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Rochester.

Miss Heinzerling was born October 12, 1989 in Rochester, a daughter of Kevin Heinzerling of Bergen and Melinda (Brock) Nikolaou of NC.

She was a graduate of Byron Bergen High School and Monroe Community College where she was on the Dean's List.  She enjoyed Marketing and Journalism and wrote many articles, some of which were published in the Press Republican in Plattsburgh. 

Survivors include her father, Kevin (Stephanie) Heinzerling of Bergen, her mother, Melinda (Brock) Nikolaou of NC; two sisters, Stephanie Heinzerling of NC and April (Thoue) Kongmany of Churchville; her grandfather, Craig Wilcox of Stafford; her grandmother, Joyce Brock of NC; 2 nephews and a niece, Katai Kongmany, Lilyan Kongmany, Aden Heinzerling; a step-sister, Jessica Wallace of Bergen; a step-brother, Mason Fuller of Bergen; aunts and uncles, Penne Vincent, Jim and Joan Lionelle and Jay Brock; several cousins including, Jared Dawe, Olivia Vincent, Sadie Vincent, Tuesday Lionelle and Christopher Lionelle. 

She was the granddaughter of the late Marjorie Wilcox.
