It's sad, but a young man lost his life in this accident. The irony of it? He had straightened himself out from a dark place, had a girlfriend, a baby on the way, and was just a good kid. I know his folks, and I'm incredibly sorry for their loss. Rest in peace PJ (Phil Ellinwood).

Bud, this accident was not a fatal. I spoke both with the State Police and the Sheriff's Dispatch Center. There have been no fatal accidents in Genesee County in the past 24 hours.

Just got an e-mail from one of the emergency responders emphasizing, this was NOT a fatal accident.

Also, contrary to our initial report, nobody was ever trapped in the vehicle.

Ahhhh what an age we live in news can come in so fast that the raw inaccuracies make it fun to read and watch develop.

I can imagine the days when papers were printed once a week and the only source of news.

No offense meant Howard ;)

Lucie, I can say with 100 percent certainty that Phil Ellinwood did not die in this specific accident. Nobody died in this accident.

Phil grew up with my son and was one of the nicest people I have ever known. A heart of gold. I bought him to Florida when they were teenagers and he told me after it was the best time of his life. The picture on his FB profile is from that time. The outpouring of love to him and his family over the last day is a testament to what a beautiful person he was.
