Congressman Lee to co-chair Dairy Farmers Caucus

posted by Billie Owens in politics, Business, Chris Lee, dairy farmers.

Here's a news release from Congressman Chris Lee's office.

Congressman Chris Lee was chosen to serve as a co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus for the 112th Congress

Lee served as vice-chair during the 111th Congress until its adjournment last year. He will lead the caucus with fellow co-chairs Reps. Joe Courtney (D-CT), Peter Welch (D-VT), Timothy Walz (D-MN), Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Thomas Petri (R-WI).

The bipartisan caucus works to aid dairy farmers across the United States, and last Congress worked closely with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on important issues affecting Western New York’s dairy farmers.

“Western New York has some of the finest family farms in the country, and since coming to Congress in 2009 I’ve been focused on ensuring our region’s agricultural producers have the resources they need to survive,” Lee said.

“Dairy farmers in particular have been hard-hit during the tough economic times, but they are a resilient group of families closely tied to the land they farm and the industry they love. I look forward to working with the other co-chairs and members of the Caucus who share my commitment to strengthening family farms for this and future generations.”

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Lee’s congressional district is the 22nd highest dairy producing district in the nation, with a market value nearing $500 million.

New York State as a whole produces about 12.5 billion pounds of milk each year. For more information on Congressman Lee’s commitment to Western New York’s dairy farmers, visit www.chrislee.house.gov/familyfarms <http://www.chrislee.house.gov/familyfarms>.

Chris Lee Selfish? Rep. Chris Lee needs to practice what he preaches. Who would have the audacity to vote for repealing affordable health care for 32 million Americans yet gladly accept federally subsidized insurance for themselves? Our Representative Rep. Chris Lee would! Congressional hypocrites have done everything possible to derail health care reform. They fueled fears and misinformation, bandied name-calling ("socialist" and "fascist") and fear-mongered, accusing "government takeover" and "death panels." Now they've fulfilled their threat to vote for full repeal. But they haven't given up their own government subsidized health package. Call out the health care hypocrisy; send Chris Lee the paperwork to cancel his free (at our expense) health insurance. If Rep. Lee doesn't believe the federal government should play a role in health-care, demonstrated by his vote to deny care to millions of Americans, he should cancel his own government provided care plan. We pay for it. Tell Rep. Lee to practice what he preaches. Add your name and we'll send him the form to cancel his own federal health insurance. http://act.credoaction.com/fax/signup.html?cp_id=61&rc=homepage

CM, Sounds a bit hateful. This is an article about dairy farms and committee appointments. You turn it into another topic to keep up the rant.

Hateful? Just because I didn't get all kissy-face with the guy doesn't mean I hate him. The subject is Chris Lee and likewise, the subject of my post. What rant am I keeping up? If Howard had time to write national news, I wouldn't have to goose these self-aggrandizing Public Relations feeds.

Gee... How 'bout that? Here's Peter and his ditto-buddies scratching for hors d'oeuvres at a booksigning for Karl Rove's new book, Reagan Shall Rise Again. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://tinyfarmblog.com/wp-content/u...
