By Billie Owens

Press release:

The Genesee County Museum building -- The Holland Land Office, is preparing to celebrate its Bicentennial in 2015. As part of the 200th Anniversary celebration the creation of a time capsule is planned.

Suggestions from the community about the items to be included in the time capsule are sought.

Items that will be considered for encapsulation are photos, newspapers, and event programs, as well as small objects such as campaign buttons, award ribbons and medals that pertain to Genesee County and its people.

The county time capsule will be opened in the year 2065 to coincide with the 150th Anniversary of the City of Batavia, the Genesee County seat.

For more information please contact The Holland Land Office Museum at 585-343-4727 or mail to:  info@hollandlandoffice.com

Museum artifacts are acquired and owned by The Holland Purchase Historical Society that is committed to expanding the public’s knowledge in understanding and appreciation of the unique history of Genesee County and its people, a living history that grows with each generation. The HLOM is home to your history.
