Happy Thanksgiving

By Howard B. Owens

Whatever Thanksgiving means to you, Billie and I would like to wish you and your family a happy and good day.

We're grateful that we can spend the day with our family.

While we are many miles away from our new home in Batavia, we are also grateful to all the people who have welcomed us to the community and become our friends.

Thank you to all the readers of The Batavian. We appreciate your support.

And, of course, without all of the businesses -- the owners of many of these businesses have also become our friends -- there would be no Web site.

We're thankful for all of this support.  We're having a great time doing what we're doing. For me, it's probably the best job I've ever had. There simply is nothing else I would rather be doing. Thank you.

We invite you to use the comments on this post to tell us what you're thankful for.

I thought this blog would be loaded with comments...

I'm thankful that Howard was led to Batavia to start The Batavian website. As someone who grew up there but now lives far away, I get great enjoyment from the content and comments. This site keep me connected to my roots.

This is the first I've seen this. I'll bet the holidays have kept many of us busy with family and friends and away from the keyboard.

Besides the usual things that I'm thankful for -- health, family, friends, the beautiful weather, etc. I want to add my brand new friends that I've met here on this site. A few of these cyber friendships have blossomed and spilled over into "real" life, away from the net, relationships that include volunteering together in the community, coffee, much enjoyed girl scout cookie exchanges and periodic phone conversations. Without this site I would not have the pleasure of meeting these new friends. So, I will reiterate Jerry's last comment and also thank Howard for starting this site.

I saw the Thanksgiving greeting but, like most of us, time seemed to get in the way of posting.
Lorie, I agree, if it wasn't for this site we would never met. The pleasure is all mine. You, Beth, Jennifer and others have become close friends.
Howard and Billie, you are doing a wonderful job. I can't wait to see what this year brings. Thank you for making it available.
