Le Roy woman faces manslaughter charge for allegedly supplying Fentanyl

By Howard B. Owens

A 50-year-old Le Roy woman previously accused of dealing drugs is now charged with murder.

Joann M. Rusby, of 92 Lake Street, Le Roy, is accused of contributing to the death of Yvonne M. Hart, 53, whom Rusby allegedly supplied with Fentanyl.

Rusby was originally arrested March 11 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Today, Rusby was charged with manslaughter.  The charge was brought after an autopsy report by the Monroe County Medical Examiner was filed.

Le Roy investigators allege that Rusby recklessly supplied the victim with a Fentanyl patch that could cause death if not properly used and failed to notify the woman of the dangers.  The woman's death is believed to be a direct result of the Fentanyl patch.

Rusby is under supervision of Genesee Justice.

My hope is the manslaughter charge does not stick. We have no been old she is a pharmacologist so why would she know the side effects?

Hart is responsible for her own death. She acquired a drug illegally and took it. Dumb move.

If it had been laced with something to ensure that Hart would die, that would be a different case and would be Murder 1 not manslaughter.

Peter, this is the sole problem with America. Americans are no longer responsible!!!! For anything! Go smoke for a few decades and then claim it's not your fault and make millions. Go drink some patron and 'fornicate' irresponsibly and then just decide to kill the fetus. Go eat fatty fast foods and blame your lard thighs on someone else.

I concede that it's awful that Ms. Hart died, but isn't it her own fault??? If Ms. Hart, or anybody else, decides to partake in a highly dangerous activity then she has to understand that there will be recourse.

People think that I lack humanitarianism, but I just think that our country is lacking responsibility.
