Old Fashioned Fun on Columbia Avenue with Care-A-Van Ministry

By Robin Walters

We were at Columbia Avenue tonight for our weekly cookout. I got to tell you there was alot of old fashioned fun going on! With Pastor George Williams playing his washboard to jump roping on the streets! Our Care-A-Van band is growing! Tonight we had Dave Hollenbach, Rich Campbell, Roxy Yeager, Mike and Shirley Wagner, Kara Laird, Pastor Williams, Pastor Charlie Piscitello, and Dave Scherff and son join us.  We are always looking for more volunteers. Anyone good at face painting? The kids would love it!

I loved the sound of the ole washboard!

LOTS OF TREASURES TO BE FOUND

Whether they were young or old, they enjoyed jumping on the street!

Our friend Rick who is a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and is from out of state enjoyed the time on the streets tonight!

We are so ever grateful for the continued support of all of  you in the community who help us go forth to make a difference. We will be back on Columbia Avenue this Sunday at 2:30 for Street church. Come on out and join us!

God Bless and Keep the Light On!

I'm not good at painting but I'm teaching my self how to play the Harmonica, Been at it for 5 months now but I still have a ways to go before I can play in front of people but when ever I do this is something I would do is to play for the LORD!

If you ever want me to video tape the Care-A-Van Ministry in action let me know I like doing videos as you can see on my YouTube channel here http://www.youtube.com/toomyg155

99.99% of the videos there were made by me and there is a lot of videos that are the LORD related I did too plus a lot of me practicing the harmonica but you can skip over those ;) .

GOD bless you Rodin and the work you do!

I remember when the Care-A-Van-ministry was beginning and the person (people) who started it. A crappy old truck and a determination that would not fail! Now you hear of it more and more. A new vehicle, a serious drive to help people in need that reside in our community, a total winner! Thank you to the one who "originated this whole thing" & to all who have joined in to make "help" a fun thing for those that are less fortunate, especially in these hard times!

May God Bless you ALL and thank you again.

Amy,

Thanks for your encouragement! The one who started it all is of course the Lord.. He is the one who saw the need and knew all along of the need here in the community.

He therefore gave the vision to Paul and Bridget Ohlson.
If you have never heard their testimonies on how it all got started, it it amazing.

The determination is there. The mission for Care-A-Van is to take the good news of Jesus Christ to the streets.
It is he who can change our lives around and make us new. He is the agency of all agencies!

People always ask us what about the "users", who may tend to use us for what they can get. As the Lord never judges anyone, nor do we. I read one time where the "food is the hook to the book". When they come out to us, it truly is more than food than they are looking for". We see the pain in their eyes, their souls, and their hearts.

Paul and Bridget have taught me when the Lord gives a vision, he gives provision. He surely does that and continues to do so.

We really do share the word with people. We bring the truth to people. Each one of the ministry team has fought their own storms of life. We all found hope and freedom in Jesus. That hope is for all on the streets to have as well.

As we encourage them to look to the Lord and find who the Lord is and how a life with him can totally renew one and to develop a personal relationship with him, we have also had the blessing of partnering with other agencies to assist in helping with the some of the other needs that they have.

Thanks again to all of you that go forth with us to give this hope.
