Genesee County Walk to End Alzheimer’s this Saturday!
WHAT: Fundraising Walk to End Alzheimer’s Close to 400 participants expected!
WHEN: Saturday, September 27, 2014.
Walk ceremony starts at 10:00 a.m. / Walk begins at 10:15
WHERE: Genesee County Nursing Home, 278 Bank Street - Batavia
WHY: Roughly 8,000 people are impacted by Alzheimer’s or related dementia in Genesee County. The Walk provides funds to sustain the free resources of
the Alzheimer’s Association WNY including educational programs and care consultations; a portion is also dedicated to research. Right now, there is no way to prevent, slow, or cure this fatal disease.
Editors’ Note: Nylon pinwheel flowers in four colors representing reasons to Walk are ‘planted’ at the site, and then retrieved as a remembrance of this moving and fun day, often after messages are written on them. Chapter staff and board members, as well as committee volunteers will be on-site from 7:00 a.m. until the Walk is over, usually by noon.
