City plans to replace trees trimmed by National Grid

By Howard B. Owens

All of those trees that were trimmed by contractors for National Grid that have been called mangled and butchered will be removed, says City Manager Jason Molino.

They will be cut down, the stumps ground down to sawdust and new trees -- trees that won't grow as tall and cause problems with power lines -- will be planted in their place.

"I think we have a wonderful partnership with National Grid and how that's demonstrated is the fact that we've been able to work out an arrangement that we can partner with them to remove some of these trees," Molino said after Monday's City Council meeting.

Hopefully they consider my tree that was butchered just this afternoon. I do wonder how they are going to go about choosing. Wish I could figure put how to upload a photo here.

Jennifer.
About how to upload pictures to thebatavian. I had wondered the same thing (oddly enough, about the original story about the 'butchered' trees - my nephew had sent me a couple photos of how the power company had lopped off the tops of his spruce trees).
When I asked Howard how to upload pics, he explained there wasn't any way to do it.
Then, the more I thought about it, it made perfect sense to me why it isn't allowed.
After reading some of the most nasty comments people have posted, which remained on here UNTIL Howard got around to reading & then removing, I can just imagine what vile pics some might post, if for nothing more than the 'shock value'.
If you have pics that you think might be of value to have published here, I'm guessing you could email them directly to Howard, and let him decide on whether to use them or not.
