State Street resident reportedly tries to dispose of trash in Genesee ARC truck

By Howard B. Owens

A garbage truck operated by Genesee ARC stopped on State Street and a person ran out of a residence with a bag of garbage and threw it in the truck and ran back into his or her house.

The resident is not a Genesee ARC customer.

Batavia PD is responding.

George, You do know that dumping your trash in somebody else's dumpster is illegal & if you get caught you'll probably be fined.

George. I believe I owe you an apology.
See, I only got through the first 5 words of your comment, "Just take the bag out ...", and I immediately assumed you were talking about one of my ex's.

At first, that bothered me. Then, when I finished reading the whole comment, I saw it had nothing to do with them.

My apologies, sir.

I can't believe this is an issue. the city will probably get some cash out of it though. ... let me tell you a story and let me know if you think I may be a "garbage disposal offender". sometimes on "garbage night" I will walk the mile and a half of the street I live on. as I walk I will pick up empty beer bottles, Horton's coffee cups, lottery tickets and all kinds of ga ga garbage. as I walk past a neighbors garbage can and recycle bin, I (may) deposit items in the proper receptacle in front of their house. if I do in fact deposit these items found on the side of road, am I committing a crime? I've never given it thought till I read this story. .. probably a damn felony.

David I don't think helping others keep the street clean by picking up trash just sitting on the ground is a crime. That's actually a good thing that I wish other people did on a regular basis. Now putting your own trash in somebody else's dumpster or curb without there permission is definitely a crime.
