Today's Poll: Should the U.S. send in special forces to rescue Nigerian girls?

By Howard B. Owens
Ed Hartgrove

I voted yes, but with these caveats attached:
A) Anyone we send in are volunteers - nobody should be "forced" to go there,
B) The Nigerian gov't agrees to give 'our people' any reasonable help we request, and
C) There is NO announcement of our 'help' until we finish the mission (and that includes announcements by either the Nigerian or our gov't, nor news from CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CNN, etc.)

I like your course of action, Ed. I bet there are special forces that would gladly go, but they need to be allowed to do their job and they don't need to be hamstrung by politics. Get in, do the dirty work, get out, go home.

Seal Team 6 would be chumping at the bit for a mission like this. This what these guys are train for and they are dam good at it. If I was one of these rebels, I would shanking in my boots at the thought of this.

Yes to special forces, no to any supporting troops. Just a quick smash and grab. It should have happened within 48 hours though. Probably too late to have a real effect. Its worth the effort if there is any good intel.
