Karen Ann Shaw

Batavia - Karen Ann Shaw, 69, of Batavia, a nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Batavia Health Care Center in Batavia.

Mrs. Shaw was born August 15, 1946 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Norman and Monica A. (Merry) Shaw.

She began her career in nursing as she graduated from Millard Fillmore School of Nursing.  She received her Masters in Nursing from Medaille College and worked at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital and the VAMC in Batavia.  She had been with the Veteran’s Administration for 31 years.  She was a member of National Rifle Association, was an avid animal lover and supporter of various animal related charities.

Surviving is her brother, Richard (Kathleen) Shaw of Batavia; a nephew, Steven (Claire) Shaw of Corfu; 2 nieces, Marilyn (Gary) Almeter-Milbrand of Attica and Lori Wright of NC; several great-nieces and great-nephews.   

She was predeceased by her niece, Beverly Shaw Miller.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St, Batavia, where services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday.
