Robert K. Smart (Rob), 83 of Corfu, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Rochester General Hospital.
He was born on June 6, 1941 in Batavia, to the late Kenneth and Alida (Needham) Smart. Predeceased by his sister Barbara A. Tooley and special cousins, Bill (Marie), John and Norman (Pauline) Needham.
Bob will be remembered as a talented craftsman who could build and repair anything. He was retired from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department after a 24 year career as a Deputy Sheriff and Dog Warden.
He was a member of Cornerstone Church in East Pembroke and for many years served as Trustee and handyman. One of his proudest accomplishments was the remodeling of the church kitchen with the help of Denny Groth and church members.
Bob leaves behind many broken hearts; wife Cathy (Arnold) Smart, his lifelong love of 63 years. His caring sons; R. James (Shelly) Smart of Wyoming, Dave (Partner, Michelle) Smart of Oakfield and Roger (Letha) Smart of Corfu; his twin sister Verna (Robert) Newton of East Pembroke. His pride and joy were his grandchildren; Jim (Jill) Smart, Bryan (Lacy) Smart, Matthew (Brittany) Smart, Christopher Smart, Lacey (Alex) Sanchez, Jenny (Aaron) Woods, adopted grandchildren (children of Jim and Shelly), Alan, Alex, Ciana and Olivia Smart; his cherished great grandchildren; Scot, Conner, Hayley, Levi, Madelynn and Kinsley Smart and Adeline and Sawyer Woods; brother-in-law, Edward (Darlyn) Arnold; sisters-in-law, Carol (Edward) Beideck, Liz Norton, Marlene (late George) Arnold and Fran (late Charlie) Arnold. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins along with their families and many friends, also survive.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Cornerstone Church, 2583 Main Road, East Pembroke, NY, where a funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
