Joan T. Moynihan, 78 of Batavia, passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at the Crossroads House in Batavia. She was born November 2, 1937 in Elba, New York to the late Matthias and Helen (Meyer) Tretter. She is preceded in death by her brother Paul Tretter, sisters Mary and Sister Theresa Marie Tretter and Teresa Dehm.

Joan worked as a property & casualty insurance underwriter for General Accident in Buffalo. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to Cape Cod, Siesta Key, FL and more than one trip across the country. Joan and her daughter recently took a “bucket list” trip to Sainte Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. She enjoyed her weekly game of Dominos with her friends. More than anything Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband Donald J. Moynihan of Batavia; daughter Deborah (Jeffrey) Skeele of Manlius, NY; brother Carl Tretter of Batavia, sister Isabelle Rada of Batavia, brother in law Kenneth Dehm of Batavia; 2 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday November 12, 2015 from 4:00-8:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, New York 14020. Prayers will be recited 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday November 13, 2015 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church) 18 Ellicott St. in Batavia, NY 14020. She will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Batavia.
