Judith O. Balonek

Judith (Overfield) Balonek, 66, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (December 9, 2015), surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born April 3, 1949 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Matters) Overfield of Corfu, NY.

Judith was a parishioner of St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish. She was an art teacher, secretary and active volunteer for the former St. Mary’s School in Batavia. Judith was a devoted CCD teacher and loved teaching children. She was an avid reader and award winning cake decorator and baker. Above all, Judith cherished her family and adored her grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, David Balonek, and children, Mary (Brian) Weber of Milford, MA, Margaret (Derek) Brown of Victor, David  (Kristina) Balonek of Batavia, Joseph (Kristen) Balonek of Gates, Jean Gibson of Hamlin, and Judy (Chris) Hysek of Batavia. Siblings include Jim (Helene) Overfield, Margaret (Jim) Styer, Phillip (Vanessa) Overfield, George (Robin) Overfield, Mary (Frank) Pellegrino, John Overfield, and Clyde Overfield. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are cordially invited to share in her Roman Catholic Mass on Monday (December 21st), 11:00am at St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish, Church St., East Pembroke. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Crittenden, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Faith and Action Scholarship Fund at Maximilian Kolbe Parish. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at: www.mcandrewfuneralhomes.net.
