George Haroian

Byron - George Haroian, 91, of Byron, went to be with the Lord on Monday (February 8, 2016) at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

 

George was born December 18, 1924 in Wankigan, Illinois, a son of the late Peter and Catherine Haroian.

A veteran with the United States Army, George served from 1943 to 1946, including the Asia Pacific Theatre.  During his service he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.  In the 1980's, he worked on the construction and building of the Calvary First Church in Haines City, Florida.  He was a construction worker for the Rochester Labor Union, an avid coin collector and a Christian. 

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Jacque) Barber of Bergen; three sons, David Haroian of Springwater, Richard Haroian and Robert Haroian, both  of Tampa, FL; a granddaughter, Melanie (Brett) VanAmburg of Watkins Glen; a great-grandson, Eric VanAmburg of Watkins Glen and several nieces and nephews.

George is the husband of the late Ruth S. Haroian and a brother of the late Andy Haroian and Lilly Haroian.  

There are no prior calling hours.  Services with full Military Honors will be on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Byron Cemetery, Townline Road, Rt. 262, Byron.  Memorials may be made to City Church, 210 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
