Ruth Hickox Hopkins

Lancaster - Ruth Hickox Hopkins, 96, of Lancaster, formerly of Alexander, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Greenfield Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Lancaster.

Mrs. Hopkins was born June 8, 1919 in Alexander, a daughter of the late John C. and Maisie Garrett Hickox.

A graduate of Alexander High School, Mrs. Hopkins was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a Sunday School Teacher for many years.  She was employed in the offices of Dr. Lawrence Mulcahy and Dr. Robert Gallagher for many years and she retired in 1974 as a property assessor from the Genesee County Tax Department.

Her husband, Warren Coleman Hopkins, passed away on October 7, 2012.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanette (Fred) Wilkie of Hudson, New Hampshire; four step-sons, Bruce Hopkins, Keith Hopkins, Dennis Hopkins and Kenneth Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Chester Hickox and Marion Grefrath.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia. Her funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. at church. She will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Alexander.
