Eva F. Hamers

  Eva F. Hamers, age 71, of Batavia passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  She was the daughter of the late Archie and Jennette Hamers of Lancaster. Eva was predeceased by sister Beverly Crego of Amherst.

She is survived by sisters; Cora Sroka (Jerry) of Marilla and Janice Dawne (Howard) of Batavia; brothers Ron Gardner (Sandie) of Florida and Charles Hamers of Texas; surviving children include Michael Durkee, Charles(Sonya) Durkee , Jonathan (Marjorie) Hamers, daughters Mary (Bret) Jones and Wendy Davis. She has 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Eva worked several jobs throughout her life including Mallory Timers, Attica State Prison as a seamstress for the Officers’ uniforms, Darien Knitting Mill, and until her passing at Home Depot in Batavia.  Eva enjoyed baking, sewing, arts and crafts and decorating for every holiday possible. 

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday March 28, 2016 from 4:00-6:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Burial will be private for family only. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
