LENA M. FIANNACA

Age 91, of Batavia, died peacefully Monday morning June 13, 2016 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born July 24, 1924 in Oakfield, NY a daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine (Cina) Pilato, she was preceded in death by beloved husband of 67 years, Salvatore Fiannaca on September 12, 2013. 

Mrs. Fiannaca was retired from NY Telephone where she worked as an operator and repair clerk for 35 years and was an active member and volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers. She was an avid gardener, bowler, sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Fiannaca and her husband spent several years in Scottdale, AZ when they retired and enjoyed travelling the US and abroad. 

Surviving is her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Joe (Rosemary) Fiannaca of Batavia and their children, Joseph (Kristin) Fiannaca of Rochester, Gregory Fiannaca of Batavia and Melissa (AJ) Kasmarek of Stafford; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kathryn & Samantha Fiannaca, Jacob, Kelsey & Andrew Kasmarek; sisters, Frances Pilato and Fee McDermott both of Scottsdale, AZ and Jennie Bianconi of TN, brother-in-law, Jack (Jean) Fiannaca of Rochester along with several nieces and nephews. 

Please join Lena's family to celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial 10:00AM Saturday June 18 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site), she will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
