Julia B. Poodry

Julia B. Poodry, 95, of Basom, died Tuesday (June 1, 2010) at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born on the Onandaga Nation in Nedrow, NY on March 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Livingston and Lillian Green Crouse.  Her husband, Royden Poodry died in 1997.

Mrs. Poodry was a member of the Turtle Clan and had formerly worked for Harrison Radiator Co. in Lockport.  She was the proprietor of a craft and gift shop that she operated out of her own home for many years.  She was so proud of her age and was the oldest living resident on both, the Onandaga Nation and Tonawanda Seneca Nation.  In her high school days she was an outstanding baseball, volleyball, basketball and softball player.  She was a fine cook and loved gardening.

Surviving are three children: Wilma (Angelo) Ianni of Basom, Janice (Guy) Falcone of Boston, Mass and Suzanne Poodry of Batavia.  Three grandchildren: Deborah (Matt) Bace, Lucia Jones (James Page) and Anthony (Stormy) Falcone.  Five great grandchildren: Katherine, Sarah and Alex Bace, Melody and Aria Falcone.  

She was the mother of the late Neal Poodry who died in 2005.

Friends may call Friday from 3 - 7 PM at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, 32 John St., Akron.  Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the Tonawanda Presbyterian Church on Meadville Rd. in Basom.   Burial will be in the Tonawanda Church Cemetery.

Those desiring may make memroiral contributions to the Tonawanda Presbyterian Church or the Tonawqnda Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
