Robert H. Mattia Jr.

Robert H. “Fuzzy” Mattia Jr., 77 of Wethersfield, passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2016 at Wyoming County Community Skilled Nursing Facility. Fuzzy was born October 5, 1939 in Nunda, the son of the late Robert Sr. and MaryHelen (Moore) Mattia.

Fuzzy was a retired sanitary welder for Twinco, where he was instrumental in developing, operating and maintaining production lines in various food plants throughout the United States. He had a passion for hunting and reloading and was usually found outside mowing, gardening or someplace in the woods. Fuzzy was often sought upon for his craftsmanship of gun smithing, farm equipment repairs and welding talents. In his early years he built stock cars for several Holland Speedway race teams and was a member of the North Java Fire Department.  He was also a member of the Java Village First Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Ruth (Bridges) Mattia whom he married November 16, 1957; his daughters Cyndy Mattia of Virginia, Debby (Daniel) Lamkin of Bennington, and Hiedi (Timothy) Librock of Darien; eight grandchildren Chelsea Bakos, Kevin Mullen, Lauryn Lamkin, Tayla Mattia, Seth Librock, Ethan Librock, Cyara Mattia, Wyatt Librock; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is the father of the late Mark Mattia who passed away on August 20, 1987 and John Mattia who passed away on May 1, 2004; also the brother of the late Patricia Mattia Brocius.

Friends may call on Sunday October 30, 2016 from 2 to 5PM at the Marley Funeral Home LLC, 135 Main Street, Attica New York 14011. Funeral Services will be held on Monday October 31st  at 10AM at the Java Village First Congregational Church, Holland Road, Java Village, New York 14083. He will be laid to rest at Quakertown Cemetery in Wethersfield, New York.
