Frances D. "Babe" (Straub) Hackett

Frances D. “Babe” (Straub) Hackett, 81, passed away on Friday October 28, 2016 at the LeRoy Village Green. She was born in Buffalo on May 29, 1935 to the late Arthur and Marie (Villa) Straub. In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her sister and brother in law Viola (Charlie) Ortolano.  

Frances received an Associate’s Degree from Genesee Community College while in her 40’s. She retired as a Merchant Marine where she worked on the Great Lakes which she was so very proud of.  She held many jobs in her life including selling real estate and being a supervisor at Sylvania in Batavia. She owned a restaurant in Attica, a gift shop and also owned and operated a plastics manufacturing company called Hack-Co in Batavia. She was an avid bowler, gambler, loved casinos and would often play cards at her mother’s house for days at a time.

She is survived by her children; Marie McCarthy of Batavia, Frances (Brian Schoenherr) Charles of Rochester, Keith (Diane) Lapp of LeRoy and Rosemary Cook of PA; brothers Arthur (Fran) Straub Jr. of Attica, Andy (Lucy) Straub of Warsaw; 8 grandchildren; Jamie, Michael, Heather, Lindsey, Keegan, Collyn, Elizabeth and Killian and 2 great grandchildren Alexander and Michael Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday November 1, 2016 from 4:00-7:00PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC 135 Main Street Attica, New York 14011. A 1:00PM Graveside Service will be held on Friday the 4th at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Attica where she will be laid to rest.
