WILLIAM H. "BILL" YOUNG

Batavia - Mr. William H. Young, 59, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 15, 2010 while on vacation with his family Ocean City, New Jersey.

Mr. Young was born April 18, 1951 in Patterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Frederick and Helen Young, who survives. 

A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill and Delaware Valley College he was employed by Upstate Niagara as the Supervisor of Membership Services. He was a member of the Batavia Rotary Club, the City of Batavia Republican Committee, past president of the NYS Sanitarians Association and the Batavia Area Jaycees, past vice-president of the Batavia City School Board, the United Way Board, Youth Bureau, city Zoning Board, and the city Safety Committee. He formerly taught Defensive Driving at GCC and was an instructor for the hunter’s safety program.

Along with his mother he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Calarco Young; children; Christopher (Lauren) Young of Congers, NY, Jennifer (John) Reale and Julie (Jeff) Grover, both of East Syracuse; grandchildren; JJ Reale, Olivia Young and Lilly Grover. He was the brother of Bob Young and Linda (David) Macdonald, son-in-law of Lillian Calarco and brother-in-law of Sally Bywater, Terry (Bernard) Gabriele and Thomas Calarco. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co.
