MR. LAVERNE S. "BUTCH" HALE

Batavia - Mr. LaVerne S. “Butch” Hale, 90, of Batavia, retired inspector at Doehler-Jarvis Division of National Lead in Batavia, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.
Mr. Hale was born July 24, 1920 in Oakfield, a son of the late Howard L. and Margaret A. Rutter Hale.
He was a member of Resurrection Parish - St. Mary's Church, the quarter century club at Doehler-Jarvis, the Good Sam Club and the former Moose Lodge in Batavia. An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he volunteered at the Senior Center and Msgr. Kirby Lunch Program. Following his retirement from Doehler-Jarvis in 1975, Mr. & Mrs. Hale resided in Florida from 1979-1993.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Norma L. Foster Hale whom he married September 16, 1944; a son, Richard L. (Sheila) Hale of Batavia; two daughters, Margaret (Frank) Zambito of Elba and Patricia Diaz of Batavia; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Gordon) Amidon and Doris Pask, both of Batavia and Peggy Foster of Crofton, Maryland; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Larry (Sandi) Hale.
He is the father of the late Daniel F. Hale who died in 1978 and brother of the late Lawrence Hale.  
There are no prior calling hours. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia. Memorials may be made to Lake Plains Dialysis Center, 587 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or HomeCare & Hospice, 550 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
