Ronald C. Hopfer

Ronald C. Hopfer, 80 of Batavia, NY died October 4, 2010 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY. Born April 23, 1930 in Bronx, NY. He worked for over 20 years for the City of Rochester School District where he was the director of purchasing before retiring. After retiring he enjoyed spending his winters at Ft. McAllister in Savannah, Georgia as a park ranger and camp host. Mr. Hopfer was a member of the Lone Wolf Car Club with his famed 1977 Matador, an avid drum corps enthusiast being involved for many years with St. Joseph’s Drum Corps. He was also a Marine Corps Veteran, obtaining the rank of Staff Sgt. Serving from 1950 to 1954 and a member of the VFW Post in Batavia. 
 
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Sylvia (Burdsal) Hopfer of Batavia, a son Russell (Sandy) Hopfer of Pavilion, 2 daughters Vicky (Dean) Devie of Long Island, and Cindy (Edward) Carroll of Rochester, NY. 6 grandchildren Thomas and Meghan Carroll, Adam (Mary) Capizzano, Steffani (Justin) Murry and Katie and Kyle Hopfer. 
 
Friends are invited to call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday October 11, 2010, at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 W. Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 12, 2010 at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company Inc. 329- 333 W. Main St. Batavia, NY at 11:00 AM.
