FRANCIS X. "BABE" GIOIA

Age 82, of Batavia, well known area pharmacist and owner of the former Gioia's Drugstore on the Southside died peacefully Monday afternoon Nov. 15, 2010 at Crossroads House surrounded by his family. He was born in Batavia May 5, 1928 son of the late John D. & Rose (Radziszewski) Gioia Sr., also preceded in death by son John Gioia, grandsons Jason Gioia & Ted Corbett, brothers John D. Jr. & Anthony Gioia and sister Rita Scibetta. Mr. Gioia along with the drugstore was retired from Chapin Manufacturing. He was a lifelong member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's), Polish Falcons Nest #493, VFW Post #1602, American Legion #332 and the Eagles Club in LaPorte, TX.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years Adeline "Dolly" (Cecere) Gioia of Batavia; loving children Frank (Patti) Gioia of Batavia, Angelo (Tina) Gioia of Texas, Christine (Bill Adams) Corbett of Warren, PA, Adeline (Thomas) Losito of Syracuse, Teresa (Timothy) Bartz of Corfu and Rose Marie Brown of North Carolina; brothers-in-law Joseph Scibetta of Buffalo & Donald Cecere of Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

The family will be present from 4-8 PM Thursday Nov. 18, 2010 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Please join the family for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial Friday Nov. 19, 2010 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site). Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery and in lieu of flowers memorials in his memory are suggested to Crossroads House 11 Liberty Street Batavia, New York 14020.
