Henry F. Burbules

Basom - Henry F. Burbules, 93, of Basom, a mechanic at GTE Sylvania in Batavia, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at New York State Veteran's Home, in Batavia.

Mr. Burbules was born July 8, 1923 in Alabama Center, NY, a son of the late Charles and Frances Burbules.


He served in China, Burma, and India Theatre during World War II with the Army Air Force.  He was proud that he was employed at GTE Sylvania from the time that it came to Batavia until it left. He was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecelia's Worship Site.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Ciesinski) Burbules, of Basom; 3 sons, David Burbules of FL, Richard (Melissa) Burbules of Batavia and Larry (Tami) Burbules of East Pembroke; 2 sisters, Frances Zigrossi of Alabama and Beatrice Cook of Medina; 2 grandchildren, Craig Burbules of East Pembroke and Heather Burbules of Irondequoit; several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Charles Burbules, Jr., Mary Zigrossi and Helen Kumpf.

Private services will be held at convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alabama Fire Department, P.O. Box 798, Basom, NY 14013.
