John E. O'Neil

John E. O’Neil, 86, of Alexander passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at the Batavia Health Care Center. He was born on January 8, 1931 in Corfu to the late Edward and Ann (Pundt) O’Neil. John is predeceased by his wife Margaret (Miller) O’Neil; siblings Helen Deja, Mary VanAs, Ruth Lehnis and Dorothy Baker.

John will be remembered for many things, he was a founder and President of O’Neil Brothers Automotive, Inc. John was a life member of the Alexander Fire Dept. serving as past President, Head Trustee, and past Assistant Chief. He was past President of the WNY VFA Member, Alexander Town Planning Board and a member of the operating engineers. John served as Eucharistic Minister at Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish in Attica, on the Parish Council and belonged to the Happy Agers and the Genesee County Republican Committee. John was a Knights of Columbus member. He loved to restore old cars, loved diesel engines and was an amazing mechanic. He loved carrying the American flag and marching with the Alexander Fire Dept. and listening to the band and took great pride in being an American. A special thanks goes out to his Grandson Danny for always being there.

He is survived by his children; Eileen (Steve) Ognibene of Alexander, John (Beth) O’Neil of Batavia, Kathleen (Eric) George of Byron, Robert O’Neil of Warsaw and Paul (Kelly) O’Neil of Attica; siblings Peggy Meyer of Corfu, Anne Smith of Tonawanda, William (Doran) O’Neil of Attica, Francis O’Neil of Batavia, Charles (Judith) O’Neil of Batavia, Edward (Sharon) O’Neil of NC, Marcella (Anthony) Saraceni of Batavia; 10 granchildren; John, Daniel (Courtney), Charles, Jessica, Sara, Katlyn (Nick), Emily, Kara (Josh), Lindsay (Tyler) and Scott; 4 great grandchildren Austin, Seth, Arianna and Jordyn along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Thursday February 9, 2017 and Friday the 10th from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC 135 Main Street Attica, NY 14011. A Fireman’s Service will be held on Friday at 7:00PM.  A 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 11, 2017 at Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish 50 East Ave. in Attica. He will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Attica.
