George A. Sanders

Oakfield - Mr. George A. Sanders, 89, of Oakfield, died Tuesday, (November 30, 2010)at the Buffalo V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Sanders was born July 3, 1921 in Oramel, New York, a son of the late George and Ina (Clark) Sanders.
A veteran, he served with the United States Army and was the owner of the Sanders Sawmill in Oakfield. Mr. Sanders enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dog, Patty. He was a member of the NRA, American Legion in Alabama, Oakfield Historical Society and the Oakfield Fire Department. Mr. Sanders was also a member and past president of the Oakfield Rod and Gun Club and was a past zoning officer for the Town of Oakfield. 
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Arlene Steele of Oakfield and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His wife, Laura Sanders passed away in 1986.  Mr. Sanders is also predeceased by his brother and sisters.
Calling hours are Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Services will be at 11:00 Monday at the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield. Burial will be in Cary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, N.Y. 14125 or Buffalo VA Medical Center, attn: Hospice Department, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. 14215.  Condolences may be made at
