John P. Burke

John P. Burke 88, of Batavia, died December 28, 2010 at the Batavia VA Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1922 in  Batavia, New York to the late Peter and Agnes (Nowik) Burke. Mr. Burke was retired from the Batavia VA Medical Center where he worked for 40 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s), Veness Strollo Post #1602, and a former member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Glenn S. Loomis #332.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Frank Burke, sisters Pauline Bachorski and Martha Anzalone. 
 
He is survived by sons Joseph (Geri) Burke of Batavia, John Burke of South Carolina, daughters Kathy (Robert) White of Rochester and Karren (Tom) Cifelli of Warsaw, NY. Thirteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. 
 
Friends may call on Thursday December 30, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia New York 14020. Prayers will be recited on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s), 303 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
