Frances Scafetta

Batavia – Mrs. Frances Scafetta, 93, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Scafetta was born January 27, 1924 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine Colantonio Zimarino.

A 1941 graduate of Batavia High School, she was a longtime member of  St. Mary's Church in Batavia. Mrs. Scafetta was a member of the St. Jerome Hospital Guild where she dedicated many hours in the hospital gift shop. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino and baking and  cooking for her family and friends. She was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked in the publicity department at Batavia Downs with the late William F. Brown, Jr. for over 30 years. Prior to her time at Batavia Downs, Mrs. Scafetta worked as a ward clerk at the VA Hospital in Batavia

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Scafetta, Jr., whom she married November 15, 1947; her children,  Dennis (Nancy) Scafetta of Penfield, Angela (Bert) Pooler of Amsterdam and Nicholas (Shelly) Scafetta of Conifer, Colorado; four grandchildren, Andrew (Adriana) Scafetta of Arlington, Virginia,  Eric (Rachel) Scafetta of Irondequoit, Shannon (Robert) Schiller of Webster and  Jonathan Fabio of New York City; seven great-grandchildren,  Leo Scafetta,  Anthony, Lucas, Ella and Dylan Scafetta, Ava and Owen Schiller; her-brother-in-law, Charlie Gustaferro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her sister, Carmella "Kay" Gustaferro.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4th  at St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc., in care of United Memorial Medical Center, 127 North Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Drive, Amherst, New York 14226.
