Lucy C. Maloni, 80 of Batavia died February 5, 2011 peacefully at the Crossroads House surrounded by her family. Born December 28, 1930 in Batavia, NY to late Nicholas and Michelle "Michelina" (Cinquino) Schiavone. Mrs. Maloni was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church. She worked a variety of different places like Kay’s Jewelers, the JELLO Factory, and GTE Sylvania. She loved trips to the casino, golfing, roller skating, bowling, bingo, dancing and especially cooking. Lucy was very proud of the course work she did at GCC later in life. Most of all she was more than a mother, she was a friend. She was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph and Peter Schiavone; a brother-in-law Joseph Yacono.
Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Mario J. Maloni of Batavia; sons Michael S. (Debra) Maloni of NC; Joseph M. (Sandra) Maloni of WI; daughter Kathyann M. Maloni of Rochester; sisters Mary Yacono of Rochester; Ann (Henry) Valerych of Batavia; Rose (Frank) O’Geen of Batavia; Theresa (Russell) Cravatta of Rochester; Jeanette (Bruce) Tehan of Batavia; grandchildren Joseph, Jessica, Vincent; great-grandchild Gabriel; sisters-in-law Ida (Michael) Adamus; Rochester, Catherine Schiavone of FL; along with many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 Tuesday February 8, 2011 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Ascension Parish (St. Anthony’s Church), 122 Liberty Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
