MATILDA J. FAIRBANKS

Batavia - Mrs. Matilda J. Fairbanks, 94, of Batavia, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Fairbanks was born August 20, 1916 in Castile, a daughter of the late John and Matilda Spinnegan Coffey.

A member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Fairbanks enjoyed bowling. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family.

Her husband, Lester Fairbanks, died March 31, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Lowell (Elaine) Fairbanks of Batavia and Norman (Sharon) Fairbanks of Byron; a daughter, Carol (Carmelo) LoVerdi of Byron; her sister-in-law, Lorna Hoffman of Michigan; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Mary Downing, Frances Morgan, Gertrude Moat, Catherine Van Scoter, Alice Coffey, Adelaide Sage, Cornelius, William and John Coffey and sister-in-law of the late Doris Taber.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston, Road, Batavia. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia. New York 14020.
