Batavia - Brian Michael Hillabush, 33, of Batavia, a sports writer for 14 years, most recently for The Batavian, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his residence, in Batavia.

Mr. Hillabush was born March 18, 1977 in Batavia, a son of Robert and Barbara (Ellingham) Hillabush of Batavia. An avid golfer, Colts, Yankees and Payton Manning fan, he graduated in 1996 from Oakfield-Alabama High School. He was a former writer with the Batavia Daily News, played T-Ball, Little League and Varsity Tennis in Oakfield, was a disc jockey at St. John Fisher and Genesee Community College where he was station manager, instrumental in station modernization and received an Associates Degree in Communication. He was a member of the Lions Club of Batavia, participated in GCC fashion shows, served as a mentor to high school students and enjoyed reading to children at the Richmond Memorial Library.

Surviving along with his parents are his brother, Devin Hillabush of Batavia; nephews, Alexander Heatherman and Aden Hillabush; and an aunt, Fawn Ettinger of Batavia

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia where services will follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. Condolences may be made at
