James V. DiLaura Sr.

James V. DiLaura Sr., 86 of  Batavia died July 8, 2011 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1925 in Batavia to the late Angelo (Angeline Tazzano) DiLaura. Mr. DiLaura worked for many years in construction as a Business Agent for the Rochester Local Union 435. He was a longtime member of Ascension Parish-St. Anthony’s Church and the former St. Nicholas club in Batavia. Mr. DiLaura was a WWII Navy Veteran and Member of the VFW. He is preceded in death by his son James V. DiLaura Jr. in 2007; brothers Angelo DiLaura; Thomas and Frank Minuto; sisters Lena Cutitta and Mary Angela DiLaura.
                                                                                                                        

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Virginia (Bower) DiLaura of Batavia, son Donald (Paula) DiLaura of Batavia, daughters Mary (Edward) Pietrzykowski of East Bethany, Susan (Robert) Schultz of Elba, Janet (Ronald) Curry of LeRoy, daughter in law Blair DiLaura of Batavia; brother Joseph (Rose) DiLaura of Batavia; sister Celia Klein of Batavia; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephew also survive.


Friends are invited to call on Monday July 11, 2011 from 4 to 8 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. A 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at Ascension Parish-St. Anthony’s Church 122 Liberty St. Batavia, NY 14020. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia, NY
