Carol L. Atkinson

Oakfield- Mrs. Carol L. Atkinson, 55, of Oakfield, died Saturday (October 29, 2011)at her home.

Mrs. Atkinson was born August 28, 1956 in Elmira, a daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Burch) Houston.

Mrs. Atkinson was a registered nurse at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies, cruises, Jamaica and shopping, especially for purses.  Mrs. Atkinson was a Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan.  She also liked to play "that stupid game."   

Survivors include her husband, Marshall C. Atkinson of Oakfield, whom she married April 28, 1994; a daughter, Cara (Richard) Masters of Pembroke; two sons, Robert (Ashley) Greene of Batavia and Albert Atkinson at home; two grandchildren, Patrick and Leighana Masters of Pembroke; two sisters, Kathryn (Jeffrey) Gephart of Waterloo and Patricia (Thomas) Matthews of Ohio; dear family friend, Burnita Sample of Madison, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Atkinson is predeceased by her first husband, William Greene and two brothers, Robert Houston and Richard Houston.  

Calling hours are Wednesday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield.  Services will be at 4:00 on Wednesday, also at the funeral home.  Burial will be at a later date in Alabama Cemetery, Alabama.
