Paul R. Courter

Paul R. Courter, 64 of Batavia, died peacefully on Saturday (November 26, 2011) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in the Town of Tonawanda, NY on June 24, 1947, the son of the late John and Cathlyn Lienert Courter.

Paul was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting and was the owner of Paul R. Courter, CPA in Batavia.  Paul was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Sharyl Welsh Courter of Batavia.  Son and daughter in-law, Andrew Paul (Ashley) Courter of Bristow, VA.  Daughter, Karen Courter of Batavia. Grandson, Ryan. Sisters, Diane Courter of Grand Island and Peggy Getman of Buffalo. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Carl Courter and Cathlyn Saylor.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 pm & 6-9pm at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia.  A funeral service will be Wednesday 11am at the funeral home.
