Gerald F. Ridley

Gerald F. Ridley, 92 of Batavia, formerly of LeRoy, died peacefully Tuesday ( January 3, 2012) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

He was born July 30, 1919 in Batavia, the son of the late Frederick and Louise Hawkins Ridley.

Mr. Ridley was a Navy Veteran of WWII and was employed by Fix Printing in Batavia prior to his retirement.   He enjoyed playing golf, reading and was a very handy carpenter.  But most of all he was a hero to his family and will be missed by all who had their life touched by him.

He was predeceased by his wife Arline Hyback Ridley on August 27, 2008.

Survivors include his two daughters, Karen (Brian) Cass of West Falls, NY and Patricia (Bruce MacCowan) Ridley of LeRoy.  Three grandchildren, Alice (Philip) Hendershott, Matt (Louann) Reamer and Melissa (Ryan) Gaebler.  Three great-grandchildren, Daniel and Zachary Hendersott and Alexis Reamer.  Several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his ten brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be Saturday (January 7th), 2pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1 West Main St., LeRoy, NY 14482.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Animal Shelter.
