MILDRED N. "LILLIAN" RICE

     Age 87, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday morning January 12, 2012 in the Copley @ Stoughton Nursing Care Center in Stoughton, MA. She was born January 22, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY daughter of the late Karl L. & Esther E. (Nordstrom) Nyquist, also preceded in death by her husband Elwin "Ellie" Rice in 2010 and a sister Esther M. Scoins. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mrs. Rice was a 1941 graduate of Oakfield High School. She served from 1983 to 1998 as the Elections Commissioner for the Genesee County Board of Elections and also as secretary for the Genesee County Republican Party. Lillian followed politics closely, was always up on current events and was an avid football fan.

     Surviving are her beloved children Richard (Margaret) Rice of Sharon, MA and Karen Anne (Joseph) DeLeo of Ashburn Farm, VA; sister Gertrude Beswick of Batavia; grandchildren Lucas & Katherine along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     Family and friends may visit from 2-3:00 PM on Monday January 16 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road 14020 where Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM. Memorials in Lillian's memory can be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be in Morganville Cemetery and for more information please call Michael at (585)343-7500.
