EDWARD PATRICK MOYNIHAN

Age 81, of Batavia, died peacefully Tuesday evening April 24, 2012 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo with his family by his side. The youngest of nine children, Ed was born August 10, 1930 in Batavia, son of the late Thomas & Margaret (Francis) Moynihan, also preceded in death by three infant children Patrick, Edward & Mary; sisters Mary Preston, Judy Gear, Marcy Moynihan and Marguerite Conlon and brothers Thomas & John Moynihan.

Ed was a 1948 graduate of Batavia High School, where he served as President of his class, moving on to Notre Dame University before being drafted into the Marines two years later. He worked fro Sylvania for over 25 years as the Purchasing Manager, Sykes DataTronic and finally at Pepsi from where he retired at age 62. He was a member of Resurrection Parish, the VFW Post #1602 and the former St. Nicholas Social Club. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, great sense of humor and just being an all around people person. Ed was a frequent visitor to the Pok-A-Dot and Wal-Mart for morning coffee, Wolfley's Barn to play cards or Batavia Country Club for a quick round of golf. A devoted husband and "Sweet Daddy" to his Elizabeth, he adored his grandchildren, even when they caught him cheating at Scrabble & Jeopardy.

He is survived by his beloved wife whom he married on November 12, 1955, Dorothy (Buckenmeyer) Moynihan of Batavia; daughter Elzabeth (Russell) Brinkman of Alexander; sisters Frances Driscoll of Batavia and Agnes (Ralph) Houseknecht of Stafford; grandson Russell Edward and Granddaughter Chelsey Patricia along with many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Family and friends may visit from 3-8 PM on Friday April 27, 2012 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited 12:00 Noon Saturday April 28 followed by a 12:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site).
