Norman H. Havens

Mr. Havens was born in Batavia 81 years ago to the late Ralph and Irene Heale Havens. Mr. Havens worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Batavia for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of the New York Army National Guard in Batavia, and he was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict. In his later high school years and beyond he sang in a Barbershop Quartet. He was a former member of the Batavia American Legion and VFW, also the former Batavia Moose Club. Mr. Havens enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, waterskiing, building model airplanes and making them fly, but his greatest enjoyment was his 6 grandchildren who he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother the late Douglas Havens

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Anna Mae "Anne" (Scalia) Havens of Batavia and 2 sons Rick (Melissa) Havens and Randy (Caryn) Havens both of Batavia 2 sister-in laws Jean Havens and Jane Scalia and a brother in-law Anthony (Julia) Scalia all of Batavia. 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins, also survive

Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday September 6, 2012 at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Services will take place on Friday September 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph's Mausoleum in Batavia.
