Arland B. Rees

Arland B. Rees, 90 of Batavia, passed away on January 19, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born November 13, 1922 in Houghton to the late David A. (Mabel Benton) Rees. On August 26, 1944 he married Louise (Wales) Rees in Rome, NY. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy & Houghton College, attended Syracuse University and received his Doctorate from Buffalo State College. He was Assistant Principle/Guidance Counselor at Corning Free Academy, Professor of History at Houghton College, served several Churches in the Wesleyan Methodist and United Methodist denominations. Arland served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy during WWII.  

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Louise R. (Wales) Rees of Batavia; son John (Kimberly) Rees of Batavia; daughter Carol (Paul) Ensell of Belmont, NY; grandchildren David and Kelli Rees; Tomas and Cara Ensell; Michelle White.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday January 24, 2013 at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Interment will take place in Houghton Cemetery, Houghton.
