Elon Koch

Batavia - Elon Koch, 88, of Batavia, NY, passed away Tuesday, (February 5, 2013) at the LeRoy Village Green, following a brief illness.

Mr. Koch was born June 16, 1924 in Lancaster, a son of the late Elon and Vergie (Patingail) Koch.

Elon was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed playing poker and bingo.  In his younger years, he liked going bowling.  He loved spending time with his family and would often be found tinkering with his hands in his shed. 

He is the husband of the late Leona (Ewert) Koch, who passed away on August 16, 2012.

Mr. Koch is survived by his children, Ronald (Ruth) Koch of Stafford, John Koch of Alexander, and Sandy (Chuck Curry) Koch of Nunda.  18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren as well as a sister-in-law, Joan Koch, of Batavia also survive.

Elon is preceded in death by a son, Donald Koch, his brothers, Norman and Lloyd Koch, and a sister, Grace (late Art) Newhouse.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  A memorial reception will be held at the Beachhead Veteran’s Club, 3188 Broadway Rd., Alexander immediately following calling. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Western New York Chapter, 2805 Wehrle Dr. Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380.
